Wastegates do make a sound. If you have an external wastegate, a large turbo, and/or a divorced downpipe, the sound is very audible and pretty cool sounding. The sound of rushing air when spooled is the wastegate dumping, not to be confused with the sound of a BOV between shifts. . .

I think it pretty cool. 1,000hp pump gas camaro. I would take one. I'm not crazy about the pipes though.

At least the drivetrain swaps I consider are keeping in the GM family.

I can, however, respect the uniqueness of this effort. It is a sort of honor for an import guy to want to wrap that drivetrain in a classic Camaro. Of all the cars in the world, the owner chose to mate a beautiful car with a respectable but imported engine. :seesaw:

Being a 2JZ owner I love my 2J. On a completely stock engine sans exhaust manifold and a single turbo I make 655 rwhp. Stock cams and all. On a stock block using stock head gasket with some internal parts over 1200 rwhp can be made easily with this engine And streetable power. I would take a 2J over any other engine. I have been on mine every day I can. I have 141k miles on my build and use all 910 rwhp daily revving to 8k rpms. I plan on doing a E85 conversion and going to a bigger snail and around 1150 rwhp. Never has let me down. Now the engine being in a 67 Camaro is just wrong. But that engine will outlast any other engine they could have put in it while making more power than any other engine.

exactly, you got haters that dont know the difference between a wastegate and a bov... in that video, i heard no wastegate (probably cause they were using factory turbos or correctly routed the dump pipes)... again, the wastegate makes no distinct sound, its just exhaust gas either through the exhaust with the rest of carbon monoxide, or straight out to atmosphere.... whether a bov is recirculating or not (in the video it obviously is not) you can hear it, which makes noise...

I love it. Clean car, nice build and a beast of a powerplant.

A friend of mine had plans to drop a 2JZ into a 55 chevy just to piss people off... I wanted to see it but he ended up selling the 55 chevy shell he had.

The biggest one was keeping mom from finding out what they were doing to the family car.

Peak numbers don't tell the entire story.
