CamaroSkooter, where did you hear that Supernatural is in its last season? I hadn't heard that.
Well, the creator (Eric Kripke) originally only created it to be a three-season show, but then expanded it to five. Then the TV exec's decided to extend it for another season, hence the awkward end to season 5 and start to season 6.

So, two consecutive generations of supreme dorkiness?

The first season was spectacular, but after the writer's strike killed the second season's intricate plots it just never recovered. You can't have a show that involved just wrap up halfway through.

I have all but the latestest Smallville season on DVD...the first 2-3 were cheesy but entertaining; however, once it matured and they stopped the standalone episode nonsense to actually carry out complete story arcs, it got really good. The main characters were so perfectly cast that even the occasional awkward plotlines just worked.

It was too slow. Not digging the Little Lex twist with Tess. Why would the "Red Queen" be building little lex's since she is Clarks mom??? Who else would have gotten Tess out of the hospital and fixed her face? Lex is dead....

Too much of a strech from the last season. Doomsday needs to come back already and kick clarks ass on the dark side of the moon, only to have his hand come up out of the dust as the final scene. Oh, and Where is Kara???? Lana is a Super Freak now too, where is she. Just because her and clark cant be close by each other doesn't mean she cant help out.

I'm glad it's back..... I just wish the writers could continue a storyline for once.

Supposedly several people from the original cast are going to be making cameo's throughout the season.

It wasn't the Red Queen building little Lex's. Lex was building little Lex's. You have to know that Lex isn't dead, and that whole truck explosion is just a convenient way to keep the character on hiatus when Michael Rosenbaum left the show.

Doomsday is gone. But it looks like Darkseid is going to be the threat this season. Or do you not remember Granny Goodness outside Tess' hospital room at the end of the season last year? Maybe Lex is associated with Granny Goodness somehow, and that's how Tess got to his secret cloning lab.

I understand none of that since I have yet to catch up on the show but....why DID they get rid of Lex (was it season 7??)

Come on....it's like taking the 'Superman' out of Clark and doing a show where he's got NO powers -- you can't have Superman without Lex...

(and, I did enjoy oogling Michael Rosenbaum... )

+1

And the season isn't over, so i'm pretty sure Lana will still show up sometime this season.

I don't think Doomsday is gone either. If I remember correctly, didn't they find a way to separate the two sides of Davis/Doomsday. Then Clark trapped Doomsday under some huge factory type building by imploding it on top of him, but they never said or suggested that it would kill him. I completely expect him to come back this season.

+1 to bringing Supergirl back, but I don't care either way about Lana.

Finally, forgive my ignorance, but who are Darkseid and Granny Goodness?

Lex had to be written out of the show because Michael Rosenbaum didn't want to come back. It was forced upon the show to accomodate his departure. I seriously doubt any of the writers wanted to have Lex leave.

I don't think Doomsday will be back for the remainder of Smallville. Doomsday kills Superman in the comic books, and that only occurs after Superman has been Superman for quite some time. Simply put, Smallville's Clark Kent isn't going to become Superman until the end of the season/series, so it's highly unlikely that Doomsday will return.

And, since I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about the DC Universe and these two characters, I'll let wikipedia fill you in

Granny Goodness:

Darkseid:

Thanks for the links! I recognized Darkseid, but didn't know him by name. Granny Goodness was all new to me though.

I had no idea that was "Granny Goodness". Never heard of her. I could have sworn that when Tess was killed in the hospital the one who did it was in red and placed a red queen on her tray. That is why I thougt it was the red queen. I just figured that Martha was knitting something. Granny Goodness makes sense though I guess.

I saw "Little Lex" say that Lex was building other Lex's, but assumed that since Tess was fixed, and little Lex said Lex was dead, that whoever killed her in the hospital and fixed her face was the one running the show now.

I've got to watch last season again.
