They ran the Hellcat against the GT and the Vette and at this point in the 1/4 neither of those are faster than the Hellcat, Dodge has stated that it is the fastest car

They are banking on the Z06 being a little slower in a straight line. Maybe Dodge has some tricks up its sleeve and this car will get the power to its wheels but GM has a longer proven history with usable high range horsepower.

The Stingray. Nobody has a C7 Z06 but GM at this point.

And that's just it. All we know is a very impressive, but peak HP number.

The 650hp Vette would not run any better than the GT 500 with 662hp so I would think that the faster 8sp auto would not have an issue with Z06

If you guys want a camaro with that much horsepower, be ready to pay for it..GM isn't going to half ass it. If you thought the Z/28 was expensive.

The vette that the hellcat was rumored to test with, was a c6 z06. Both cars have similar power to weight ratios, so it's quite plausible that the hellcat could edge out a the last gen z06 in a straight line.

Dodge Announces 2015 SRT Hellcat HP Numbers: 707 HP!!!
Dodge dropped a whopper of a HP number on the industry today. The new 2015 Hellcat will deliver 707 HP according to Dodge's release today and they are also claiming it is the fastest muscle car in history.
Like it or not, you have to admit, we are living in a true Golden Age of performance vehicles. Every manufacturer is bringing their A Game and I for one am loving it. We'll see if the Hellcat can actually channel all those horses around an actual corner but in the meantime, let's celebrate American Muscle for it brings out the best in all of us and will certainly encourage Chevy Leadership to continue to deliver their best work. |

Well, good for Chrysler Corp. When I first saw the specs on the Hellcat, I figured it would end up being roughly on par with the ZL1. I guess not if its going to be over 700 hp.
That said ... at this point, I would be shocked if there wasn't an ultra-high output LT series engine in development at GM for a next-gen ZR1 (though probably not destined for a ZL1 or Z28). As stupid as they are, bragging rights are important to automakers & I don't see GM being content with building the 3rd most powerful engine in North America. Quote:
So when has it run poorer numbers than the outgoing GT500? Or is this just speculation on your part?

Pretty exciting stuff. In spite of the numbers and claim of "fastest muscle car in history", I wonder if it can perform better than the ZL1 orZ/28 on an actual track.
And how's the gas mileage?! Haha |
