That and they have fairly small tires for the power they're putting down.

I'm not eccentric. I'm anything but. And I know I'm gonna go far.

I fully expect the GT350R to have the capability of putting a real hurt on the Z/28. The GT350R is going to be lighter, more powerful, and rev higher. The only real advantage the Z/28 could possible have is a better chassis design and by the looks of things, Ford went balls out on this one so I doubt the GT350R's chassis is bad. The Z/28 looks like it has the better brakes and the tires are marginally better, so it should be interesting.

The data recorder was showing steady 1.21 lateral G's and peaks in the 1.6 range.

All told he was something like 51 grand into the car, including the price of the car. Think he was also running H/C/I for the engine. So like... $10,000 in suspension and brakes, rest in engine
The thing is, it comes down to the driver way more than anything. I'm sure the Mustang is fast, I know a few people that have got some sweet set ups on their Mustang. However comparable drivers and a C6Z is going to run circles around the Mustang. I've kept up with and passed a handful of Corvettes (base & Z06's), Z/28's, a Lamborghini Gallardo, among others. However it was the driver holding the car back, not the other way around.

I had a similar problem with my old exhaust set up on my ZL1. I was blowing the cat back off of the cats. At the time I had long tube headers, gutted cats, OEM cat back. This happened four or five times and each time I would put the exhaust back on, I would tighten down real good and use blue locktite. Turns out I was building up too much exhaust pressure. I've since moved to Corsa catback and haven't had the issues (knock on wood).

Interestingly I'm not so sure that they do butt up against each other (catback and cat). Maybe in OEM form they do but with my Corsa catback and PFADT headers / gutted cats they don't. I was going to put a couple tack welds on the catback/cat to ensure I don't blow them off but when I took the clamp off and tried reassembling there was a good 1/4" to 1/2" gap.
