Yeah that's why I asked. Some of the magnifiers aren't flip. But I know the aimpoint one is quick disconnect with no need to re-zero. Just curious to which it was. I've seen people put fixed things on their rifles rendering other attachments almost useless

It's the eotech flip to side... Makes my buis work perfectly when I flip it to the side...

And both the magnifier and holo both have quick disconnects...

Same concept except on an AR .308 using Aimpoint optics and LaRue Tactical flip to side and quick disconnect mounts.

They arent a must. It just depends on how far out you want to shoot. They dont weigh much.

Is your RRA a bull barrel, if so I say suck it up and get a nice scope, if not take off some of the unneccessary accessories and add the magnifier, I think you will love it for most things past 100 yards.

How do you like the magnifier? Do you often shoot past 100 yards? What about the holo... have you disconnected and reconnected it? Is it still dead on, or do you have to adjust it a little after removal and replacement?

I love my holo... Eotech is awesome... I have the 2dot which gives me an auto adjustment shooting a hundred yards and over... I'm zeroed in at 50yrds with my holo center dot which puts me pretty close on my second dot at 100yrds and over... With the 3x magnifier flipped up really helps at that 100yrds and over... I can also see the target better @100yrds to adjust the holo after each shot to zero back in, but I tend to adj my shot, according to how far it's off rather than adjusting wind and elev... That away I'm not constantly adj at the range... I generally shoot at 100yrds... Not too many taken over that... Only removed it once and it was really close when I put it back on.

What brand QD mounts do you use? I've found that LaRue Tactical QD mounts are superior in the fact that they hold a perfect zero after you remove them from the rail and reinstall them, at least in my experience.

Hah! Yea, he bought it new from a dealer late last year. Maybe he'll finally get it back after he gets off the outage he is working (7 days/week/nights). I told him he could either pay me back or I'll give him a couple dollars and he can give me his AK. Would look really good next to my AR.

Do you shoot it more than 100 often, or just every now and then? I looked at a couple of EOTechs, but I finally decided on the Aimpoint PRO 2MOA. I like the simplistic single red dot, and found the 65MOA circle on the EOtechs to be too "busy" for my liking (although I think it would be great for CQB). Aimpoint has a similar 3x mag that comes on and off as well. I've been waiting to get it, but it's not on the list of things to do just yet. I would like to purchase another rifle, like a .308 or something to do longer range shooting. The 5.56 ARs are very capable weapons, but they just aren't 300-400 yard weapons. Not that they are unable to, but lets face it, those rifles are really designed for closer engagements. I'm very undecided on my next rifle, but I'm going to start looking soon.

I also have the EOTech EXPS2 with the 3X magnifier (the pics below are the 512 I borrowed from my older AR).

It really comes down to preference, but I like the "2 eyes open" approach. I can quickly acquire targets, without losing my peripheral vision. Then for longer shots I bring up the magnifier.

I'm also going to build a .308 at some point...probably a Remington 700.
