The '230 mpg' on the volt is merely because it has to have some rating. But what do you rate it as? Infinite, since it doesn't need to use any gas ever? Or ~45 mpg for when its in generator mode? Even then the engine will be going on and off now and then and not running constantly, so 1 gallon of gas will have a massive variance in range since its a completely different type of vehicle. There is no way to accurately give it 1 number for fuel economy.
The Cimeron was hated because the car was not worthy of being a Cadillac. It was obviously a Cavalier and GM did nothing to improve the vehicle to make it into a Caddy. If they were to put a egg crate grill and the Cadillac crest onto a Cobalt it would get the exact same response as the Cimeron did. GM has mostly moved past that style of badge engineering. Compare the lambda crossovers: Enclave, Traverse, and Acadia. Each one is unique and fitting of the brand, but all share the same basics because of their common platform. I am sure something similar could be done with the new Cruze if they decided to. I don't know what you mean about Hummer. GM won't have anything to do with them going green since they've sold the brand to the Chinese.

My reference was pointed towards GMC taking over where Hummer left off.. but with more "green" tech being integrated into the line-up. Diesel would be nice.. but I see the possibility of Hybrid tech being implemented in the GMC brand more so than just the Dual-Mode Yukon.

Of course that is my hope... The Hx would make one hell of a off-road vehicle for GMC... As I said before... GM should've merged Hummer with GMC, but that is a pipe dream now. It was a very profitable brand and doesn't actually need it's name to do what it was doing. The Hummer name could be sold... but why not make it into a Trim level within the Denali one. Denali being the upper-level near lux version of GMC and the "Hummer" line being the off-road part of the Division. In other words... take the opportunity for GMC to actually differentiate itself even further from Chevy. Certainly U would keep the more moderate vehicles as they appeal to the mainstream buyers.. but why not merge the H2, H3, H3T, and that gorgeous Hx (H4) into the line-up of GMC calling them all the Denali trim level. Just replace the HUMMER insignia with GMC. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The look is already there |

Class Action Suit Filed on Toyota for "Floor Mats": Please Get Outta My Country
PRESS RELEASE
Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Toyota to Correct Sudden Acceleration REDLANDS, Calif., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The law firm of McCuneWright, LLP, filed a national class action lawsuit yesterday against Toyota Motor Corporation on behalf of Toyota and Lexus owners who have experienced incidents of sudden unintended acceleration. Los Angeles County residents Seong Bae Choi, the owner of a 2004 Camry and Chris Chan Park, who owns a 2008 FJ Cruiser, will represent the class. Both have experienced multiple instances of sudden unintended acceleration in their respective vehicles, Choi and Park are also among the thousands of Toyota and Lexus owners who have experienced incidents of sudden unintended acceleration while driving their vehicles, and among the millions who are potentially affected by this dangerous defect. The crash in Santee that claimed four lives in August raised the profile of the issue with the public, Toyota, and federal regulators. California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Saylor was at the wheel of a Lexus ES 350 sedan on Highway 125, when the vehicle inexplicably accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph. According to a 911 call of the incident, Saylor was unable to stop the Lexus before it crashed and burst into flames, killing him, his wife, daughter and brother-in-law. This, however, is not the only fatal crash resulting from sudden unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus models. Sean Kane, president of Safety Research & Strategies, Inc., has reported at least 16 fatalities and 243 injuries in crashes involving Toyotas that have been attributed to sudden unintended acceleration. In total, there have been more than 2,000 complaints of sudden unintended acceleration in these vehicles, culled from litigation and consumer-reported complaints to the automaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Toyota has tried to lay all the blame on floor mats, launching a recall last month affecting approximately four million Toyota and Lexus vehicles. But the evidence suggests that the causes of these uncontrolled acceleration events are likely more complex, involving computer, electronic, and mechanical systems. "For years, Toyota Motor Corporation has dismissed complaints of sudden acceleration as being the driver's fault," said McCuneWright attorney, David Wright. "But neither driver error nor floor mats can explain away many other frightening instances of runaway Toyotas. Until the company acknowledges the real problem and fixes it, we worry that other preventable injuries and deaths will occur." Toyota's first response should be immediate changes to their control systems, so drivers can safely stop a sudden unintended acceleration event, Wright said. Toyota's current design does not allow drivers to easily put the vehicle in neutral, apply the brakes, or just turn off the ignition. NHTSA recently highlighted this problem in a Vehicle Research & Test Center report. It noted that Toyota and Lexus drivers could be stymied in an emergency situation because: * the ignition button on vehicles with a keyless ignition system must be depressed continuously for three seconds when the vehicle is moving before it will turn off the engine; * the neutral gear position is difficult to find because it requires the driver to move the shifter both laterally and vertically; and * when the throttle is in the open position it requires a brake pedal force of 150 pounds to stop the vehicle, five times more than the 30 pounds required when the vehicle is operating normally. |

U would have to be the most naive fools on the web if U really think it has to do with the Floor mat and not the placement/design of the accelerator pedal. A friend of mine took his Lexus RX in for this same issue months ago... when the original issue was put in play almost 3 years ago. But Toyota is acting like this is a NEW issue.
It took them 2 days to get his car back. FLOOR MAT ISSUE MY ASS Here is the ORIGINAL Recall: Quote:

I remember hearing about that accident on the news last week....such a sad, sad tragedy. It's really sad that Toyota is trying to pass the blame on their drivers or on the floor mats.
That's why I'm glad I bought a car that was made with tools, not chopsticks.

Sorry If U Own One... But Some Cars MEN Just Shouldn't Own
OK... Truth is.. a man.. in my humble opinion, money or not, can certainly buy something worthy of his gender. Basically what I'm getting at is that if your parents gave U a Cavalier or Civic... or U even bought a Miata, dirt cheap own your own.. U should certainly have the ability to sell that mutha-effer and put the proceeds into a used "cool car" like a '93-2002' Fbody, 90's type Chevy Caprice/Impala, Crown Vic, an Acura Legend, A 2 Door Tahoe or SOMETHING. Hell U can even find a used Corvette C4 or C5 for in the teens at this point.
But what I won't abide... is seeing a grown man.. with money... driving something like this: It, like the MX-5, like the Highlander, like the SC430, or the Prius.. or ANY TOYOTA.. are cars for women. The next time U see a man driving this... ![]() throw a bra at him and a coupla bucks.. he's saving up for the "CHANGE." ![]() Truth is.. if U own a Camry or Corolla... young or old... broke or rich... more than likely U don't really think that seeing Megan Fox bent over a Camaro is appealing. ![]() ![]() The FJ is a wanna be Hummer and U kno it... :hi: The Tundra is purchased by idiots who believed that 0-60 runs in a Pick-Up was a REAL reason to buy a Pick-UP... They also believed that because it was a Toyota.. it was BULLET-PROOF from the factory The Supra and Celica ARE DEAD!!!. The Last Celica, in fact, was the epitome of a "Girls Car." I can't even recall seeing a dude driving one. :( Anyway.. go enjoy a Latte and a back-rub by Marshall the masseuse.

LOL!!! ![]() It's amazing when U think about it... Remember how congress kept telling GM, Ford, and Chrysler that they needed to be more like Toyota last year... and then less than one year later.. Toyota's sales are dropping... their piss-poor quality issues are finally moving beyond the false perceptions and hurting people... and their Executives are being accused of several cover-ups. The IRONY. ![]() GOD BLESS AMERICAN INDUSTRY. Despite the Government actually being against it in favor of foreign business... it still exhibits superiority.

Get Outta my Way U POS Corolla. The Speed limit Says 65.. not 45
"Driftin' on a memory · Ain't no place I'd rather be · Then with you yeah · Loving you" as the song once went. For U youngins that's the ISLEY BROS "For the Love of U." 8) (as I stare at a picture of Katya (Vette) and Pearl (CTS-V) parked right next to each other... looking like they wanna go down on each other..all sticky and wet.)
![]() Nonetheless I found myself afew weeks back... driving a Saturn Astra. A good friend of mine asked me to go with him to the Saturn Dealership where he used the Cash fr Clunkers program to trade in a 1993 Chevy Blazer, as it was determined that "YES!" it qualified for the rebate when traded in for a 2009 Saturn Astra XR 2door. She's Silver, black interior, Manny tranny and very good looking. It's his gift to his daughter on her way to Penn State. ANYWAY... my title is not misleading... this is not another CmiReview... The car posed the question in my mind, after being STUCK behind a GODDAMN Toyota Corolla, of what if... I were suddenly subjected to constantly being STUCK behind Corollas and such??? What if... the only thing that is left on the road after the end to C4C is a bunch of 4bangers compacts and sub-compacts. :smoker: ![]() Of course the car I was driving was another car similar to it in relation to power and passing capability. Luckily the Astra DOES have some "oooomph" even with the 138HP 1.8L, enuff to pass some bullshit Toyota Grandma-Mobile and look good doing it. But STILL I can't get my mind off my Caddy... I see a C5 out the corner of my eye and my mind instantly goes from Pearl to Katya. So my hand instantly goes up to do the "WAVE" but then I realize that the reason why he's not waving back.. is because I'm not in my Vette.. and I'm driving what I usually would refer to as a "Girl's" type car. BUT STILL... can U imagine a United States with nothing but "A to B" capable cars? I mean fuel Economy is cool... and I can't wait to get the Volt, but seriously.. I burn more gas taking off at a stop-light then some use in an entire day of driving their Corollas and Cobalts, not including the Sweeet ass turbo-charged SS ![]() and in MD it seems to be getting worse. People are literally driving SLOWER With more 4 bangers on the road... did I waste money buying two cars that can go 0-60 in under 4seconds???:(Eff U Green Mutha-Effers... I like to DRIVE
