Dude. A few things here.

Do you have children still at home?
Does you're wife work?
Does you're wife have a good network of supportive freinds?
Are you very patient?

There are a million things to think about. You can make really good money driving but you'll NEVER be home. Those company recruiters are worse then military recruiters. You'll never get the truth out of them. And local (home every nite) work pays for shi*. There were days I worked 16 hrs. and made 70 dollars. Usually pays by the load. If it takes you 4 hrs to get loaded and another 4 hrs. to get unloaded and it took you 4 hrs to get the load there, that's 12 hrs. If the load pays 70 dollars, you make 70 dollars for 12 hrs. There were times when it would literally take over 8 hrs. sitting in one place to get a truck unloaded.

Then there's DOT.

Just make sure you hire on with a good company. Union would be best but you'll never find a union driving job right now.

I could write a book on this subject. If you're dire, then you gotta do what you gotta do but make this your LAST option.

Then at least support the local(ly based) chopper shop that's inspiring a lot of the stuff I'm doing to mine - buy a Big Dog.

I'm a personal fan of the Wolf or the Pitbull.

Usually pays by the mile on OTR. But the local jobs don't. It would even be worse by the mile local. When you sit at a lumber mill, steel mill, or some stupid little construction site for 6 hrs. because they dont' have a forklift and they have to go get one or take all f***ing day to laod and secure by hand, it takes away from your pay. There are good driving jobs but VERY few and VERY far between.

Hey Junkie. Car seems to be lossening up a bit more. I'm going to the track in Gulfport soon and get the official word.

Not sure if the car meets these standards though.
