Camaro with upgraded tires and brakes? sorry we dont have that problem...the camaro comes stock with pirelli p-zero's and brembos.

Nothing was ignored. Did I ever say that it had summer tires? no...quit putting words in my mouth.
Why cant we just compare base GT vs. base 1SS? you have to option out the GT to get it to compete?
I thought this 5.0 was the king of the road? now you have to make excuses based on what tires it has?

This gets better every day.

The stang has better power to weight ratio and steeper gearing. What am I missing?..traction maybe. I think motorTrend got a 13.5 1/4 with a 2005 mustang with 300 hp and 3.55 gears. Seems like both the camaro and stang should be in 12's. What's the best times people have gotten with their camaros? I guess they aren't much faster than the 2002 model. Lol the 7 year old terminator still has bragging rights.

On a more serious note, the blue car edmunds ran was tested out at the same location 7 days prior in WARMER weather (DA of 3577 vs. 2884).

There are still too many variables that make even this head to head #'s comparison directly to each other difficult. It's not like they were run at the same exact time.
* The camaro was well broken (14,813 vs. 2,172)
* The camaro was ran in slightly different/better weather (DA of 2676 vs 2884, which equates to ~.05 and ~.5 mph)
* The camaro had summer tires vs. all-seasons
* The camaro was shown to have done the runs with wind at 1.4 vs. 6.3 (it never states direction)

It's odd that they chose to do a performance test with a non/lesser performance model. It's like comparing an L99 to the LS3 when one is clearly superior to the other, but even worse because the cost difference is flipped. In the end, only the track will paint the true picture of what the cars are like in comparison.

all of the gt's were held at the factory. none released for a mystery reason. if its low power or retuned low for reliability im done with ford forever.

This is a pretty major jump to make based on absolutely no information....

I think both cars look good, but that's just me I guess.

Wouldn't warm weather only help the Mustang with traction? All of their times are corrected, so wouldn't the warmer weather have aided traction? The same reason the SS did better in their initial testing (13@110.9MPH vs. Edmunds best of 13@110.6MPH for the Mustang) I'd assume.

The broken in aspect isn't really a factor as the SS is posting consistent times from it's initial tests.

Well, the only difference were the Brembo's and all-seasons, the actual go-fast goodies were correct (3.73 gears), just different rubber would have been nice. Also, Ford sends them a car for testing so Ford chose to send them that.

SO are all these magazines pro Mustang? It seems that way doesn't it. No matter what the numbers say on the track, they always say they like the Mustang better etc.. Oh well, at least this time they say it's up to the driver..

Honestly the 2011 Mustang is the better car now that its performance has been improved. However, the debate is on how close the two cars are In performance now.

And what's so better about it? The interior? Because that is the only subjectively better thing about it? The camaro wins in the looks category, the speed category, the technology category (IRS) and at leaast for this comparison in the price category.. So how is the Mustang better overall?
