Our weather man just said that this is going to be the warmest summer ever recorded. I've lived in Florida all my life and I am use to the heat and humidity but I can tell you that this has been one HOT Summer and August is our HOTTEST Month!

We're coming into a period of temps over 112*, and good chances of rain. We'll see if we actually get rained on.

Since I'm tired of scammers contacting me about the Chevelle, it is now on EBay.

Since I have not ever sold an item in the manner that you guys are. I am therefore ignorant in the ways a person could "scam" you into selling your item for less than what you want.

Are you using the term scammer to describe an A** Hole trying to by your item at half the actual market worth and wasting your time.

Please advise
John

On internet, Craigslist auto sales, there are a few well known scams.
You'll get a call on the car and they ask a few questions but generally not the typical questions like what options, miles, been in a wreck, etc. Most scammer calls are from out of state and they tell you they can't come but will have a friend stop and get it. In an attempt to protect yourself, you agree to meet them in a public place. In our town the Police actually have a secure room for the transactions like this.. However they don't show up (as far as you know) and you finally go home. Problem is they were there, maybe in a couple vehicles, and follow you and can actually strong arm steal the car. Payment is also an issue. You don't want to take a check. Bank transfers are not much better. Even thought the transfer may show up in your account, it actually takes 3-7 days for the transaction to become final. If the sending account does not have sufficient money, your bank can reverse the transaction to protect themselves and you are out. Cash does not always work either, they can steal it back from you after you leave your 'secure' area. Kansas City, Mo police work about 5 cases like this a week. This has been a scam on Cragslist for several years. Most cars involved in the scam are higher end and performance vehicles, and others that can either be stripped for parts or shipped overseas quickly.
I tried selling my '08 Z51 a few years ago and had 3 calls from Colorado, Iowa, and Nebraska. I used to work for a large phone company and they traced the incoming # and they all came from the same phone. They phished the # so it was different and looked like it came form the different states.

This is why I prefer to take a loss and trade my vehicles. I know I can get more selling outright but things have just gotten so out of hand I consider the difference a convenience fee.

All of my scammers want to know the "lowest price" I will take for "the classic car". They ask no other questions, and inform me they do not live nearby, can write a check, and will arrange transport. I actually reply with a substantially higher price than my asking price.

Typically, they will offer to send a check for $5000 more, and when the transporter comes to pick your car up, you are to write a check for $5000 to the transporter. Soon, their check bounces, you are out of a car and $5000.

All of their phone numbers are out of service.

The scammers that I have encountered sent me an e-mail saying that they are interested in my boat then ask questions that are clearly answered in the description. They go on to say that after payment how will they be able to pick the boat up without even trying to negotiate the asking price.
