Also imo just focusing on 1/4 times compared to the 392 (nice motor btw) dismisses, all the tech, engineering, cost spent and FOCUS on what GM is aiming at with the Z28. For example you don't add $10k carbon ceramic brakes to be faster in the 1/4, you don't add 305 tires at all 4 corners for the 1/4mile, you don't add formula 1 type shocks for the 1/4mile... Etc... If all GM wanted to do was make a camaro with an LS7 then they would have made it an option for the camaro 1LE and called it a day, not to mention at least $25,000 cheaper. That was not their intention nor the consumer that actually buys a Z28. That's my 2¢... Edit: BTW the camaro z28 tires are practically track tires that take a lap or 2 to warm up, it's not a drag tire, there very little grip until they warm up. |

Sorry that I hurt your feelings :(
Most people here agree the hellcat is a cool car. What difference does it make if its faster then a Chevy or ford? Be glad we have these options available and stop acting like a bitch. Remember now Chevy and Ford know what their competition is, makes it that much easier to top it so get your panties out of a bunch and enjoy the show. ... fan boy |

I'm sorry but the man has a point. I hate it when guys brag about road course times and have never actually raced on one nor ever will. 99% of ALL racing done by pony/muscle cars of every year, including this one, is done on the street, drag strip, or air strip. How many cars built for the track like the ZL1's, 1LE's and Bosses will actually do 1 lap around a road course. How many of those same cars will engage in a race with another in some sort of straight line competition? I bet the amount is a staggering lop sided difference.

Very cool, we are likely in the golden age of gasoline powered automobiles. Tesla's cars, Porsche's Hybrid super car, Mclaren's Hybrid Super car, BMWs Hybrid sports car, these are all foreshadowing of what is to come. They won't be getting much more powerful than this folks.
With 700 HP though this thing will probably command 80+ Gs out the door. I still haven't seen official weight yet but it will probably weigh about 4400-4500 pounds. Will it be faster than the GT500/ With the 6MT, I say definitely not. It is all going to come down to how good this 8 speed auto is. I'm not sure 707 HP is going to be enough to take down the GT500 but we will see. Quote:
"Track" cars are nice and all but you honestly need a ton of money on top of your purchase price to really have fun. And no matter how good a driver you are there is still a real chance you could put a ZL1 or Z28 right into a wall at any moment. Pros crash all the time, but they are FUNDED. Even the most bone headed driver can handle a quick roll race in a straight line (on a desserted Mexian Highway). |
