Been there done that. Sorry to hear about this Marvin. Seems like my buddy and I always bring out the best in other teams too. Play last place teams and get your butt handed to you. They step up to there A + game and you can't get anything going. Plus there is the theory that they mess with your oil pattern.

WE have all been there. And as the anchor man on all the teams I have bowled on, it feels even worse, like you let the team down.

So true... I have a 205 avg. And didn't shoot it at all . Lost 1 game by 7 pins and that was my 204 game lol.

adjustments mid game make and break a good series.
fact. I can't count how many times I've missed a 750+ series because I couldn't shoot a big 2nd game because I was too stubborn to move off my 1st game line... so shoot 250-210-260.... or instead of just shooting a high 600 go 220-235-180 for a measly 635[/QUOTE] Adjustments are the big key, once you start getting the average up. Last night was one of those nights that should have been 750...245, 200, 255. It took me a few frames the 2nd game to figure out the transition. Lanes got a little squirrely in the middle and I had to make sure I looped it a bit more towards the end of the night instead of just making 2-1 moves. 700 isn't too bad; what was good was that I was 80 pins higher than the two guys on my pair that average similar. Plus, the other team was tied for first, 4 points ahead of us and we took 5 out of 7! Monday was a little more mediocore-679 with a 201 for the first game...the old body was a little stiff and fresh of a trip to the bone-cracker. Still sticking with the old Vertigo. It isn't giving me anything big, but I haven't been below 679 with it the last few weeks (I think) The key to adjusting is watching the reaction of each ball. If you go heavy on a good shot, move a board left. Split=2 boards. Sometimes the lanes will carry down on the backs and you might have to move right before left if you leave a 2-8 or washout. Generally speaking of course. The game gets way more complex beyond that. |

Yup! For you guys that are just starting out...when you continue progressing its really important to know your equipment. Knowing what your ball is going to do will help you out in situations where you may be lost. If the lanes are drying out, you don't want to pull out an aggressive ball, or a ball with a lot of midlane. Gotta throw something that gets down the lane. I'm really thankful that I got to work in the proshop back home for 3 years. Drilling my own bowling balls has given me a wealth of knowledge.

Wow. You guys are WAY better than I am. I don't think I've EVER shot 750.
Bunch of low 700s but even that's not often at all. I'm a 205 bowler that can shoot 140 one game and 279 the next. hahaha |
