All I gotta say is I didn't see that one coming.
Since there's also rumors UF might be coming after Dan the Man, I gotta say I hope thats false as false can be...

It would be our luck if they do. Finally get somebody making real improvements in the way the we play just to have him snatched away after a season...

Nah he's a near lock for the Redskins.
Dungy is apparently a real possibility for the job.... He's good friends with both Meyer and our AD. Urban's condition is a heart condition, leading many to believe that once he gets it under control its likely he will return to coaching.... aka the job is not long term. Something which would appeal to someone like Dungy. He has come and spoken to our team many times over the last few years and is very familiar with our program. I think he'd end up with a 5+ million a year deal if it went through (fingers crossed). Stoops from AZ is the one they were interested in. Charlie Strong/Dan Mullen are both on the list, and honestly idk which one I would rather have. Strong is a brilliant mind on the defensive side, while Mullen is a disciple of Urban Meyer, and is an offensive guy. Strong is the better coach, but I think we would need Mullen more.... I'd be happy with either one. Petrino is a no, same with the majority of the suggestions in here. Someone on Gator Country wanted Steve Spurrier to take over haha. Edit: Apparently Shanahan IS interested. 'Sources close to the former Denver Bronco head report that Shanahan finds the Florida Gator coaching position an interesting opportunity, not ruling out a trip to Florida in early January.' "Their longtime commitment to excellence and winning is the type of place where I could easily see myself", says Shanahan |

lol Kirk Herbstreet just did an interview where he said only 3 things are certain....
1. Urban is going to step away from coaching for a significant amount of time (5-10 years) 2. The Florida job is going to attract a good deal of names that weren't interested in the Notre Dame Job 3. Florida is going to (quote) DESTROY Cincinnati when they rally for Tebow's/Urban's last game |

He's a great coordinator... but hes got no HC experience, and for that reason a lot of guys don't want him. Dungy/Shanahan are far and away the best options, but they are both long shots. Another couple of guys who are making noise are Butch Davis and Jim Harbaugh.... However, I think the obvious and clear ''most likely to end up with the job'' would be Dan Mullen. He knows the offense, knows the players, good recruiter (he got Tebow), and he could step in right away. |

And on the practice feild is where the hardest work gets done. That time is cut considerably. Pete Carol, Jimmy Johnson, Butch Davis, Steve Spurrier, all said there is MUCH more stress in the NFL. Hell, you can just look at the physical appearance of typical NFL coach and college coach. lol The NFL guys are in much worse shape. |
