To me it seems like they are saying they've been forced away from camaro5 and the simple action of posting anything will get them banned.

Which isn't the case. Do you realise that in the 2 years and 1000+ posts you haven't received one infraction... until yesterday. would you like me to post the numerous PM's you and I have exchanged in the hopes that I could avoid giving you an official infraction?

The rules are pretty simple here if you can't accept the simple request I put in my earlier post regarding the intention of being a member here at camaro5, then maybe you should leave.

But if you want me to make you a martyr then just insult me directly or intentionally break a rule or hell post some spam... That will get you banned...

Nothing, but since I am not privy to knowing who exactly received a similar message, I can only speak for myself.

Quite frankly, I made that statement because I figured you'd take offense at my interpretation of your earlier post. Given that you seem to be at your wits end about all the posts involving the Ford Mustang on this forum, I really thought it could have been my last post before I was banned.

Yeah, having rules is a good thing. As a past co-administrator of another automotive forum and moderator on others, it's a must of you want to have a board that is not complete anarchy. What rule was it again, exactly, that I broke to warrant the infraction? Or was the infraction to serve notice that unless I heed your suggestion on what kind of content I post, there will be even more dire consequences?

Are a majority of my posts in threads discussing a Mustang or, more specifically, the GT500? Yes. Are those the only threads I post in? No. Is my intent on this site to:

Quote:
defend [my] car against the other and "set the record straight"
No, but where is the harm in correcting obviously false or fabricated information that is presented on the site if you are able to provide factual data? For those who are die-hard GM fans and hate everything Blue Oval, that's their prerogative, but you wold think they would at least want to know the truth about their "competition". The great Chinese military leader and author of "The Art of War", Sun Tzu, once said:

Quote:
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
Knowledge is a great thing. Too bad many people just don't want to learn anything, especially if that knowledge comes from someone they consider "the enemy" or whom they think less of because they do not choose to drive the same make or model of vehicle they have chosen. It's one thing to be an enthusiast of the Camaro and appreciate its qualities. It is another thing altogether when someone thinks they have been annointed by God-almighty as the ruler of all things pony/musclecar because they elected to put one in their garage.

If it was really my intent to get banned, I don't think i would have any issues presenting a rock-solid reason for you or any other moderator to do so. Here again, with a statement like this, you are making it seem like you are just wanting me, even encouraging me, to act out of character so you can administer some sort of internet punishment.

Believe me, if I didn't enjoy this board, the people on it and appreciate the car it is devoted to, I would not be here. Unfortunately, for some on here who just can't stand the fact that I own a Ford product yet continue to be present on a GM-centric message board, I still find the reasons to continue to participate outweigh the reasons to never visit the site again. If/when that changes, nobody will need to ban me just so they do not have to read my posts any more. I'll just simply stop visiting the site. I certainly am not looking to be any sort of martyr over something as trivial as an unpopular opinion/comment made on an internet message board.

The funny thing I dont think it is just Mustang owners that hate us, I get more dirty looks from 4thGen owners then anyone else.

I for one am glad the Ford is finally stepping up and making a GT that can compete with the SS in 2011, should be good for all of us. I use to have a 96 GT, but it was just way too slow for what you paid for it. 215 HP on the 4.6L GT the 97 Camaro RS v6 was pumping out 205 HP. This is going to be a great decade for muscle cars!

As such we expect all members to have some interest in the Camaro and how it fits into the broader muscle car market....

So please understand. if you are among the usual suspects that only post in Mustang vs Camaro threads, we will consider you part of the problem. We've tried to keep this site a pleasant place to discuss our passion and the occasional flare up is always expected. But these particular sections is constantly full of bickering that does nothing to bring muscle car enthusiasts together.

I hope everyone understands where Camaro5 stands on this.

Respectfully,

Chris

Then let me be clear, you have Not been singled out. People on both sides were given warnings but you are the only one who continues to feel like you have to defend and announce that you are being asked to play by a certain rule.... It isn't because you are mustang owner. It is because your post history is clearly biased to mustang only threads.

And you do nothing to extinguish the debate but more often encourage it due to the nature of your posts.

Give the more knowledgeable camaro owner a chance to police our own... You might be surprised at how quickly we come to the defense of the Mustang...

Quite frankly, I made that statement because I figured you'd take offense at my interpretation of your earlier post. Given that you seem to be at your wits end about all the posts involving the Ford Mustang on this forum, I really thought it could have been my last post before I was banned.

If you thought I would take offense then why did you post it?????

I take offence to 99% of your posts. But that isn't how this site is moderated. In fact most of the people on this board probably take offence to your posts because of your sig without ever having gotten to know you.
You may not care, but I've done a lot in the past on your behalf behind the scenes. I've received numerous PM's complaining about you and other mustang warriors. All of which are angry with the Mods for even allowing you to post here at all....

Yeah, having rules is a good thing. As a past co-administrator of another automotive forum and moderator on others, it's a must of you want to have a board that is not complete anarchy. See my post above that is the rule. To reiterate. "if you are here for the purpose of defending your car with little or no participation or objective discussion outside of the "my car Vs. your car" threads. You will ultimately be asked to leave."

You can argue semantics if you like. And yes a lot of that is left to interpretation. So this is your notification that your current approach to posting here at Camaro5 will eventually get you peramenetly removed from the site.
FWIW.

Are a majority of my posts in threads discussing a Mustang or, more specifically, the GT500? Yes. Are those the only threads I post in? No. Is my intent on this site to:

See above... semantics.

YOU NEED TO FIGURE THIS PART OUT. You are a mustang guy on a camaro form. In the end this site is in existence to serve the camaro community NOT the mustang community. This site is popular with camaro owners and they are the reason this site exists. So in the end you will have to conform to the way this site is run. We will not sacrifice our Camaro enthusiast’s experience here for the sake of a few mustang guys that have minimal exposure outside of mustang threads. It's not fair but it is the truth of how this site works. Again, get used to it. I don't know how else to say it.

Knowledge is a great thing. Too bad many people just don't want to learn anything, especially if that knowledge comes from someone they consider "the enemy" or whom they think less of because they do not choose to drive the same make or model of vehicle they have chosen. "enemy" your words not mine... I prefer rival... semantics....
yes we have immature and uninformed members here. It isn't your job to keep them in check. It's mine. And again this site is for the Camaro owner. Not the mustang owner. You are welcome here but in the end you are not one of us... you are a muscle car enthusiast to be sure... and from that there is a bond for sure. Again let us police ourselves... you might be pleasantly surprise. Forgive me for making an assumption here. But I don't think you have any other reason for being here other than to correct the mistruths about the mustang... if you did you would have take my multiple PM's seriously when I asked you to knock it off. Even after an official warning you still have trouble acknowledge a very simple request.... Again if you are confused please see my above quoted post again... That is the area you are in violation of.

If it was really my intent to get banned, I don't think i would have any issues presenting a rock-solid reason for you or any other moderator to do so. Here again, with a statement like this, you are making it seem like you are just wanting me, even encouraging me, to act out of character so you can administer some sort of internet punishment.

NO! I want you to heed my warning. I don't need a reason to ban you. I could have banned you at any time and I would have been thanked by numerous people for doing so. Instead I take shit for you all the damn time. All I'm asking is for you to help me out!!! Stop acting as the patron saint of the mustang. Why is it sound advice for Camaro owners to ignore mustang threads if they upset them... But you can't take that same advice. If you don't like those threads then just stay out. If you are sick of seeing misinformation then stay away.... Why are you any different... why are you entitled to be the voice of reason when you don't like what you see posted but Camaro owners should stay out???

Believe me, if I didn't enjoy this board, the people on it and appreciate the car it is devoted to, I would not be here. Unfortunately, for some on here who just can't stand the fact that I own a Ford product yet continue to be present on a GM-centric message board, I still find the reasons to continue to participate outweigh the reasons to never visit the site again. I don't believe you. If you enjoyed the boards you'd spend more time in other areas of it.
Anyone can look at your post history and see for themselves where you spend you time here and the content of your post just by looking at your profile. I would counter that you like this forum because it enables you to "correct" us that is what you like. Not the board itself...
Until you are willing to accept my request. I will continue to feel this way about you.... 2 years later....
Now, I'm officially done. If you continue to argue this I will give you the next infraction for just being stubborn....
I'm done trying to make it work with you.

All hail the mighty hand of GTAHVIT supreme commander of post content, despenser of infractions and keeper of the Camaro5 code! He has set forth his edict and any who should dare defy his "suggestions" should tremble in fear of his retribution!

Quote:

Now who's playing the martyr? If that is truly the case, then I guess I owe you a vote of gratitude. However, whether it is an individual or a select group of members, you are setting a specific set of rules for one group and a different set of rules for others.

I get that you want to protect the integrity of the site, but do you really think by trying to tell someone in what particular forum they can post in and what the content of their posts is, in my opinion, not the way to do it. So the majority of my posts are in threads that involve Mustangs, so what? it's not like I am bashing or putting down the Camaro or trying to prop the Mustang up as the patron saint of musclecars. I do make personal insults to other members, I do not call their cars ugly pieces of crap, etc. Do I sometimes encourage a healthy, adult debate? Sure.

If my "approach" to posting on this site is offensive, then, as you have pointed out, then it is just a matter of time before you or another member of the staff has a bad day and I'm banned. I GET IT! But if your idea of the right approach to "conforming to the rules of this site", or to your own specific desires, requires me to post in threads I have no interest posting in or providing commentary that is not an honest reflection of what my thoughts are on the subject at hand, then I guess I will not be long for the site. So be it.

As a fellow Mustang owner and a Camaro owner I have to say you are just acting like a jack ass now. Damn shame .

Enjoy your time on other sites.

Maybe they're upset that a V6 can out perform the stock V8 GT

Not buying that.

A 2010 Mustang GT will rape a 2010 Camaro with a V6. Just not a realistic comparison.

Take a 2010 Camaro V6 and it will easily out perform a 2010 Mustang or 2010 Challenger with equiv. sized engine which is what it was intended to do.

well... it could have been a a 15 or 16 second GT from the the early 90's! LOL!

By you are right... most late model GTs will beat us V6s.. while we have 300 HP we only have 273 TQ...

Of course I have beaten TWO S197 GTs... ummmm... one spun well past the 60' mark... the other stalled! LOL!

But yeah, while I love my V6, i know the important number is torque... and I have no delusions of what I can beat and what I can't...

garagelogic, I'm a little confused. you seem to be very passionate about all of this.

You openly admit that the vast majority of your posts are in the Mustang sections of the forum here. So why do you want to spend so much time on a Camaro forum?

You claim that it's to make sure the Mustang info is accurate. WTF do you care? Do you somehow gain from the auditing of a Camaro forum? WE are here to celebrate and enjoy some time with fellow enthusiasts. YOU are not a Camaro enthusiast. Is it THAT important for you to police the accuracy of what's said in a CAMARO forum on the internet with a bunch of people who you don't know? Do you think you're gonna change something? Come on. I can tell you're smarter than that.

You don't actively participate with the rest of us about the thing that we come here to participate in.

I guess I just don't get it.
