Rick, you have a great adventure ahead of you. Sure to enjoy. Your car sure brings back memories, as my father had a 1966 Caprice back in the day. But he was not one to take good care of any of his cars so she died a slow death. Have fun and be safe.

Glad the trip is going well so far Rick. Hope that continues & you have an enjoyable trip.

Good morning crew. Today we will visit my dad & Mike's parents. It is supposed to be hot again today but not as hot as some recent days. I slept in a little. Still need that AM coffee. Happy Sunday everyone.

Today is the anniversary of the day I got the best birthday present ever. This day 36 years ago, exactly a month early, and exactly a week before my birthday, my firstborn & my one & only baby girl came into the world. I sure miss having her close by & hope she can move back to TN soon. I will post up a couple of pics of pics of her from my wall as a pretty baby & as a beautiful adult.

My brother-in-law was cleaning out some stuff & ran across an old magazine & brought it to me. It is pretty cool. Here is a pic of it too.

We ended up stopping in Frankfort, KY which is between Lexington and Louisville. So we drove a bit further today than I planned, but that is great. Impala did well averaging 17 MPG which is not bad for a big car. Used 1 Qt of oil, which I have extra in the trunk. Will check coolant tomorrow. Found two rattles I was hearing. One of the SS hub caps has a loose center cap and a tranny cooler line rattles on the frame under medium acceleration. Even dirty, the Impala is getting lots of thumbs up, smiles, pointing, and horn honking. And at every stop, someone had one "just like it" back in the day. I just missed taking a photo of the crowd round it at Cracker Barrel.

Think I have to remove that stupid steering wheel wrap as my hands are getting greasy. I'll have to replace the two front brake hoses (not leaking) and I think the tranny mount needs replacement.

Bryan is having a good time too. He added Ketucky to his list of states he's visited. We'll be able to sight-see more when we arrive in Missouri an Oklahoma.
Not many on-the-road photos today. All we did was drive up up and down hills and mountains covered in trees or corn. No offense, but WV us kinda boring, KY is a little better.

On to Springfield, MO today.

BTW, I think the Impala was safe last night.

Great pics Rick. Glad you guys are having a good trip.

Daddy was doing pretty well yesterday. When I got there they were in his room cleaning him up. He had managed to get his shoe off, took out the insole & tore it up. He supposedly had little pieces of insole all over him. But I got to see him eat & he actually did a good job of feeding himself. First time I had seen him be able to do that in a long time. He could not even do that when he was at the assisted living facility. He was also stringing together 2 pretty good sentences at a time sometimes. Talked something about someone using a wheelbarrow & he went & got him one too one time then laughed. He looked good other than his skin being kind of dry & flaky looking. I rubbed some lotion on them.

We had Tacos at Mike's parent's house & I swam for a while.

I was sleepy this morning & had a hard time dragging my butt out o the bed. Off to work. Only 2 days of work then Fest time!!!!!

Being on call when there are storms happening can be crazy .we were having severe thunderstorms which led to a couple of tornados . I had to travel 2-1/2 hrs north of where we live to a retirement home , they had no elevators. What a crazy drive it was started out ok , then I am driving into a light show in the sky .it got worse , the wind picked up then hail and torrential rain .I could not pull over as I could not see anything at times . After waking up an electrical supplier for fuses I headed to our cottage an 1/2 hr away as the power had been out since 4 pm. we got the generator out as hydro said power would be out till later Monday . So at 330 am I got to use the generator for the first time in 10 yrs since owning it for the sole purpose it was bought for . I grabbed a couple of hrs of sleep then headed back this morning home . we got lucky some branches came down , a dead tree on the lot beside us came down to the property line . one confirmed F2 tornado damaged 5 police cruiser at a stn . as of this post hydro says power won't be restored to our cottage area till 6pm tonight . Glad we keep extra gas for these situations .I don't know if I will be busy when the other effected areas get their power back on or not time will tell . Not sure what is worse driving in a blizzard or hail storm and wind ? guess that the view out the windshield can be the same .
