Over The Hill Gang , Old Farts with Young Cars

Worked you butt off at the home place the came home & did a bit of yard work. Now just chillin' in the yard until the rain sets in. We got a good shower for a while at dad's but it just made it a steam bath. I took some pics until my camera battery died. I'll work on downloading them later. Just on the phone now.

Tomorrow is our 30th wedding anniversary.

I can never forget the date due to 14 tornados that went through Ontario that afternoon . We missed it at the wedding and during our drive in the corvette with the t bars out on the way to Niagara falls to start the honeymoon . We missed the hail on the way there as well . We moved to one of the hardest it areas F4 several months later. I cannot get my wife flowers as she says they just die and if I buy a card she will throw it out in a few days .

So I found the solution for this after a year of marriage . I make my own card up with life events drawn on it and have also included valentines day as well . My wife has kept every card that I made so far , this takes awhile to do because I have to make sure she is not around when I do this . I just have to finish a couple of things on it and wait till tomorrow to give it to her . Of course I am on call this weekend so hopefully it is a quite day ( work wise )

Happy Anniversary! That is very sweet to make the cards.

I was able to get the pics downloaded. It is a nice place where we grew up. I sure hope someone buys it & loves it as much as we did. Know anybody who wants a nice baby farm?

I'll try to pic the best of the 64 pics I took First check out the groovy paper the closet shelf was covered in that we never could bring ourselves to take off. LOL

I'm sure the 100+ degree temps kept attendance down. But with 7% humidity, it wasn't that bad. Spent 2 hours inside McDonalds though.

Jan, my sister knows all about working the butt off on the old homestead. Except that now it's her homestead. You have to understand that our Dad saved just about anything that had any remaining value (I have copies of his tax returns dating back to the 1940's). Some of this stuff is from one of her kids' recent moves, but most of it came out of the cellar of this house - which does not extend under the single-story portion! Seems that dumpsters have been extremely hard to come by up there, and I don't think she knows yet when they'll have one dropped off.




There was a separate reason that we were up there - it's about 325 miles from here. The high school that I graduated from has been inviting members of the class 50 years previously to attend as honored guests, and there were about 30 of us who did. Got our names in the program and even an honorary "degree".

I took a few pictures of our group before handing the camera off to another classmate's spouse so I could scoot in "for the record" just before we were called to line up. Somebody must have cracked a joke just as this picture was taken.

Yeah, we did that cleaning out part some time ago. My parents were something of hoarders. They collected antiques & never threw away anything. We found owner's manuals from everything they ever owned, a lifetime of tax returns & every associated piece of paper, generations of photos (my mother had a thing about never destroying or throwing away any photo), and wall-to-wall stuff, stuffed into every nook & crannie of that house. We sold stuff, filled a huge dumpster and still had tons of stuff that we just looked at & said "What the heck do we do with this" to figure out what to do with. It was a long drawn out process to get to this point. There is still a lot of stuff to deal with & go through.

It seems the day has had a negative impact on some of us. My little sister woke up with a nasty migraine & My husband had a very rough night & is still in bed. I'm okay. Just a bit sad but ready for it at the same time. I'll go to see daddy today but no need telling him about it. He just would not understand.

Good morning crew. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I visited daddy yesterday. He was mischievous yesterday. He tried to get into the nurses cart, to go into other people's rooms & to go outside. He was able to say a couple of things that made sense & were understandable. He continues to lose weight. The house & farm go on sale today. I look for it to sell pretty quickly but you never know. It is coffee time for me now & off to work. Have a good day.

I just wanted to check in and say Howdy. I know darn good and well that my sig is too big and I'm a dark side guy (Shelby owner), however, my first car was a Camaro and my usual forum is getting really slow. Any tips on how to do a Sig since it requests a www. and tiny pic doesn't do that???? Yep, old fart tech issues. I'm 56

Welcome aboard okbfd. I'm not much help with the sig pic. It always takes me a long time to figure mine out so it does not get changed much. I finally figured out how to resize mine but I think that was on the last computer. Some of the other old farts are more computer savvy than me. We don't mind if folks from the dark side hang out with us. There are others. We will play nice.

I had a very slow day. I had to do a home visit midday and on the way back to the office went by to talk to the service manager of our local Chevy dealership. Ruby is due for a radiator flush, battery & possibly a couple of upgrades for the Fest. At least DOT 4 brake fluid. I read today something about a recall on the driver seats. Something about the bolts coming loose, so I asked him to check on that & any other recalls (except the stupid key) TSB's or PDIM updates etc. He is going to look into it & call me back.
