Mike & I spent the morning yesterday with him working in the yard & me working to give Ruby a coat of cleaning way & sealer, then the phone rang. It was my sister telling me my dad was being taken to the ER via ambulance. He had spiked a fever then started throwing up. We spent the evening in the ER. They determined he had a mild case of pneumonia. He got fever reducers, anti nausea meds & IV antibiotics then they wanted to send him back to his assisted living facility. We convinced them to keep him since they have no nursing staff at night at the facility & only a skeleton crew. As much as we pay he should have more care there but that is not the way it is. They did keep him & he seems to be improving. He was sweet last night. He wanted to hold our hands & at one point he looked up at me & said "You are just beautiful".

It is raining cats & dogs here & has been the middle of the night. My yard looks like it has a creek running through it.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. So sorry about your dad Jan. I now assisted living doesn't have skilled nursing here in Georgia either. It's so hard to know what to do sometimes, but I'm glad they kept him.

John, Mike has an old train set from his boyhood he wants to get from his parent's house & set it up in the garage. It is a German train from when he lived there. Not sure what kind of shape it is in.

I'm home from sitting with my dad for 25 hours. It was tiring but sweet too. He is confused but easily managed though today it was constant. The incompetence & understaffing of the hospital was appalling. On Saturday night when my younger sister Jill stayed with him, they came in & hung a bag of antibiotics to his IV at midnight but forgot to turn it on. She noticed the next morning it was not dripping & told them. That led to him having to stay an extra day. While I was there yesterday his IV bag ran out & the pump alarm went off flashing a message "air in lines". I called a nurse who put his arm on a pillow & turned it off saying "I'' be right back. I learned those are the deadly words. Anyone who utters them will never be seen again. He started getting hot to the touch & was trembling so I called them again. A couple of nurses aides came in & took his temp & said it was up & put wet towels on his face. About 3 1/2 hours after his IV ran out they finally came in & started a new one & gave him some Tylenol. One of his doctors said keeping him hydrated is the most important thing & was not happy about the lapse. There were several other things that happened where his needs were not met appropriately but that was the worst.

I need to go to bed early as I have to go to work in Nashville tomorrow & I'm beat. Here is a belated pic of Ruby after she got her cleaning wax & paint sealer for her birthday just before I had to head out to the hospital. And one of the creak in our yard with the heavy rain.

Thanks everyone. I really like shooting and posting car show pics.

John, I still have my childhood Christmas garden stuff. Maybe one day I will actually set it up.

Sorry to year of your dad's hospital stay. Are hospitals there "for profit"? Some here are, and you can definitely tell the difference, much like what you just described.

Wow Ruby, that is one shiny Camaro!! Looks great!!

Are Mike's trains Maerklin's? I set up my cousin's layout many many moons ago when I was visiting him in Zurich, Switzerland. I was a wee lad of 17.....LOL

I had a massive Lionel 027 gauge layout in my cellar when I was a kid. Absolutely love old trains!!! And old airplanes!!!

Hope your Pop gets better soon.

Cool Skip! Pics when you get 'um.

My dad is still on a roller coaster ride. For a little while he seems to be getting better, then he gets a little worse.

Very busy day at work. Drama with club stuff. I'm tired & emotionally drained. Doing my notes & going to bed.

Yep, that is goo Rick. Hope it is not too much trouble.

Geez Louise am I tired & feeling down. I am trying really hard not to let silly drama bother me with much more important things like my dad to worry about but it just really upsets me. I gotta shake it off. Nothing I can do about it anyway. I will go ahead & go to my training in Clarksville today. My older sister insisted on staying with daddy last night. I'll go by there & check on him & her after the training. I doubt I'll retain much of whatever they are trying to teach today. Have a good day crew.

I went to the half day training, visited with my in-laws for a little while then spent several hours with my dad along with my older sister. Later in the evening my younger sister joined us & we got a chance to talk about dad's situation. The doctors are making us pretty mad. Our medical system along with many things today, has gone to hell in a hand basket! I guess we are going to try to get a second opinion and if that does not work, may file a formal complaint. It is a long story & I won't bore you with it all. Suffice it to say he is not getting better & they are not planning to change anything about how they have been treating him to address the fact he is getting worse & not better.

I certainly can sympathize Jan. My mom was in the hospital with pneumonia too. I felt like someone had to be there 24/7 because I never knew who the new shift nurse was going to be and whether she'd be caring and competent or not. So sorry you have to deal with it, but it sounds like you and your sisters are on the same page about that, and I'm glad you have Mike to support you. (And don't worry about that "drama", you're right, it's minor compared to what else is on your plate).

Been raining lots here lately but it was beautiful today. Leaving tomorrow for a Spring Blooms Tour and meeting some of my Hot Rod Power Tour friends up in North Carolina. Going to be fun!

There are lots of 5th Gens on HRPT, I've met several from different states. It's overwhelming and I get brain overload from all the cars I see and all the people I meet. Hanging out with folks at the hotel is the best way to get to know other Tour participants. Maybe one day you can go.............it's big fun! Love to get to the drag strips..............I'm not fast but it's fun.
