Wow! That's too cold for too long. It's seems like the cold weather gets harder and harder the older I get.

Tucson is a bit cooler vs. here in Phoenix, but Tucson is definitely a different vibe vs. here. Some folks like Prescott, but they get snow up there.

It's easier for my body to endure 100+ degree temps vs. what some of you are enduring. Don't think I could function below 30* anymore. Nine months out of the year are awesome here so I can put up with 3 months of heat and haboobs.

Up here, I'd say three maybe three and a half months are cold. But the rest of the year it's just so Beautiful up here. I love having woods all around all the time, plus the beach just minutes away. Dec, Jan and Feb are cold. This Jan didn't get really cold till halfway thru, then the snow started and it hasn't stopped. Record amounts of snow.

I agree with you Normagene the older I get the less I can tolerate the cold. This morning the temp was -12 and now the power is out at my house so no heat. Supposed to be back on by 10:45 but if it does not come back on by then I will take a half day off so I can go home and hook up the generator to run the furnace

Nothing worse than that...... We loss power last year during a blizzard, two and a half days with no heat. Wow was it ever cold. All we had was the gas fireplace so we slept on the floor all bundled up. It was warm three or feet, but any further than that and it was cold. The house overall was around forty something.

Hope the get the power back on ASAP.

My neighbor texted my wife the power came back on around 10:30 so it was off for 4 hours. I am guessing the dogs were getting cold since it never got above 0 outside during the outage. House probably got into the low 50's. I just checked my phone and its still -3 right now. It'd sunny though so there is hope to crack into the single digits before I leave work. Might have to bust out the shorts and sandals 😊

Welcome aboard /royalcrown farms! This is a great place to hang out with some great folks. Nice Christmas present. I always wanted to get a nice car with one of those big bows on it!

Frozen precip has not started yet but it is coming. They already decided to close the office by 4:00. I doubt I'll stay that long. I look for it to move in sooner here as it is getting close already by the radar. Once it turns to rain or if I see the snow really starting to stick to the roads I am out of here. The road in front of our office still has a very thick coat of ice on it. Mike brought me in the truck but did not have it in 4 wheel drive. We fish tailed part way down the road & had to try to avoid cars parked on the street. Navigated it successfully but, you know, it is just not worth the risk. My last client is at 2:00. I told them to call before leaving the house so if it is already snowing/freezing rain, we will cancel. If they show I'm out of here by 3:00. If not as soon as precip starts to slick up the roads. I can literally walk to my house from here but was joking with staff & said, I'd really rather not have to scoot that far on my butt. Stay safe & warm everyone.

Welcome!

Our mini-vacation has begun! In a few hours, we'll be heading north to Sedona. Hope I can handle the 60° temps. Lows will be in the 40's, so we get to use the fireplace.

Stay warm everyone. Hope the weather moderates for you soon.

Home now & it is snowing hard. Thinking about it now I think this is the longest period of time (5 days) since we have lived in Springfield that we have had frozen precipitation on the ground continuously. I know there was one time we had a deeper snow & Jina build an igloo on the back deck that lasted for over a month but the rest of the snow had left the ground after only a few days. It just never got warm enough to melt the igloo. There were periods of time when I was a kid that snow/ice stayed on the ground for up to a month but not in the last 26 years.

The snow is okay but they are calling for about an inch of snow before it changes over to sleet then freezing rain with up to 1/2 inch of freezing rain. That freezing rain is the scary stuff. We got resupplied & have a gas fireplace so are prepared but I sure hope we don't get that much ice & lose power. Cross your fingers for us.

Good luck Janice I hope the ice misses you. Ice is way worse than snow to me. I can get around in 2 feet of snow but an inch of ice is paralyzing.

Luckily, crisis averted! We got some freezing rain but not enough to cause significant damage or take power out. One of the local TV stations was taken off the air for a short time but that was all. Some areas over on the plateau & in KY are still getting freezing rain & there may be some problems in those areas. Here it changed over to plain old rain & the ice is starting to melt. Now we are expecting some localized flooding as normal drainage routes & storm drains are clogged with ice & debris. Streets are still bad in lots of areas & tons of wrecks are still happening. Also we have had some house fires & the roof of a local historical church collapsed.

Looks like we may get some snow on a couple of days next week but so far they are not talking about a lot of accumulation. Is it Spring yet??????? Happy Saturday.

46 here. I think after 40 life gets better and you go back to being young at mind, at least that s what I felt. I recently was in a bad auto accident and getting that close to possible death made me reconsider my immediate future so decided it was time to buy an expensive toy I absolutely did not need. God it felt good!

Welcome duramac.

Maybe this photo of our location in Sedona will make everyone feel warmer. Probably in the 40's right now.
