Yes I think they do. I'm sure this is a safty feature because the high wing blocks the rear window 3rd brake light at certain angles. The high wing 3rd brake light is designed to take the place of the rear window one, but I still have both of mine working.

Thanks to Maureen and GM for solving my problems with my highwing.

I didn't post until now..

The highwing brake light was overtightened. So the plastic had cracked, and it was only held in with one screw. My washers also rusted even being under the trunk.

Anyhow, the new brake light, has D shaped plastic covers over the screw holes, seperate washers over the screws that screw into the spoiler, and fewer LED's. It is still bright as can be though.

I also noticed that it is a Hella brake lamp. If you find it out of warranty and need to replace, I believe I found it. Hella 959380221 3980.

For those doing the MOD thing. I believe there is a SMOKE version on Hella's site. H23380021 3980 LED 408mm Smoke CHMSL.

Sorry to hear about your brake light but thanks for the info, it may help someone out someday. I can understand about the plastic cracking from a screw too tight, but rust on the screw? Wow I'll have to keep a check on mine. Maybe replace them with stainless. Glad you got yours fixed, this may be a recall issue if they start giving trouble.

The rust was on the washers on the underside of the trunk lid.

It is in an area where water can get in as it is outside the trunk seal.

ADZurka, I agree it would look great on a Convertable.

Saw This Thread abou the high wing...what do u guys think on a BLK car...I was almost thinking of putting the ZL Wing on?

The wing is nice and all but the car looks unbalanced. You need some sort of front splitter/skirts to go along with it.

Thats funny u said that cuz i just order a ZL1 style splitter...I was going to go with the callaway splitter and side skirts but just not feeling them
