dmw56 and Rick -- great pictures of all the Barrett Jackson auction cars !!!

Jan and Rick -- love the scenery pictures!! Nothing but corn and soy bean fields to look at here.

Rick -- your first two pictures of group two (road) is neat. The one taken at head height and the second at road level. The bushes and such almost look like a completely different place.

Hope everyone has a good weekend !!

John

That takes some really nice pictures.

We love the Peoria area and go there often since we have a time share at Cibola Vista Resort.

Nice pictures!
Made me pretty homesick, as I HAD to move from Surprise back to Nebraska last April. Someday I hope to be back!

I tried to post up some pics this morning but did not beat the dreaded bewitching hour on C5 & had to give it up. I awoke to a winter wonderland but is was short lived. I had to get up kind of early to go about 80 miles away to Tullahoma, TN to my aunt Dean's funeral. This was the last of my mother's sibling group. They are all together again now. It was nice to see all my cousins but I just hate it that it seems we only see each other now at funerals. We all grew up so close & many of us more like siblings than cousins. all of us were together on holidays & every year at family reunions. As the aunts/uncles started to pass we had a few more family reunions then they stopped. we talked about trying to start the reunions up again. I hope we can.

Anyway it was sad to see this generation gone. There are now just 3 of the spouses of the siblings left, my dad, an aunt & an uncle. I don't know how much longer we will have my dad. He is really going downhill fast. Now he has forgotten how to eat & cannot do anything for himself anymore. He is mostly not aware of what is going on.

Here are a few pics from the morning.

Rick, nice pics !!

Very good selection of items.

The shifter chain sticking out of the end of the axle on the bicycle was neat.
I remember bikes like those.

Good morning crew. Headed out to see my dad this morning & anticipating it with a mixture of joy & dread. He has gone downhill more since I was away last week & I don't look forward to seeing his current physical & mental status, but happy we still have him. The passing of my aunt dean made my cousins & I very sad for the passing of this amazing generation that we all know we can never live up to the example of nor will our children. My Aunt Dean had such a quiet, calm loving nature that just to be in her presence was to be put into a more relaxed and content state. She was so giving. She had 6 siblings and they had some 15 children and then there were her own 5 kids. Of course as we cousins started having our own children & then they had their own, our family reunions became huge. Any time Aunt Dean came to visit she brought each of us something. It might be something small but it would be something showing she put thought into our own personal likes or interests. It was simply amazing. She was much loved by her family and will be missed. Here is one of my treasures from my Aunt Dean. Let's see if any of you know what it is.

Now is the time of the year when I must buck up and earn my pay. If you think professors have it easy follow below.

I teach an advanced Degree level design thesis course. Required each student registrar their design thesis topics on an Ontario government website. It is a LEGAL issue and very complex. Simple registration not easy so spent hours this weekend trying to clarify to students as how to answer some of the registration questions. Problem is, as a professor, I am not allowed access to the form my students must complete. Hours of emails this weekend.

My students are registering many diverse complex advanced design related research based thesis issues, that I must review and sign off with my approval. Yet this is Ontario and as Professor advisor, I do not have access to the forms my students MUST file and submit on time (this Monday).

Sometimes I make fun of the time I have off between semesters. No joke about how serious it can be during a semester and some of my 70 hour weeks helping my students. This weekend just wanted to lay back with my cats and watch TV movies. However, spent about 18 hours this weekend just answering student emails, crafting every word and sentence, just so I could offer my students best advice. I am an educator and this is what I do.

I know it is tough going being a professor. I got a little taste of it being a graduate teaching assistant in grad school. I taught introductory Sociology. The worst time was ends of semesters when I had my own final exams to study for, papers to write, etc. and preparing my students for theirs as well as grading their papers, tests & compiling final grades all while being a single parent. I spent many a 40 to 72 hour stretch with little to no sleep getting through those end of semester times. I also know I was on the giving end of some of those emails, calls & office visits to my professors seeking the same sort of help you give out.

Sometimes I really wish I had completed my PhD program instead of stopping with the masters & gone on to be a professor....................other times.............not so much.

Daddy was drowsy today & napped much of the time I was there. He did roust some & interact a little. I played with him with a small ball for a while & he smiled & laughed a bit. He is still not eating well or sleeping well but his color looks better to me today.

I did a little shopping. I gave in and bought some bigger pants for work so I can be comfortable at work until I can drop this extra weight. I got some good deals & can look okay at work again. AND I am starting back to exercise class tomorrow.

Jan - It is obviously a ceramic rabbit. Does the red scarf give a clue as to what you are asking about it?? One should always stay away from Mr McGregor's garden !!
