Of course we do! Have fun. All the car stuff here this weekend will be rained out. Guess we will need to find some indoor things to do this weekend.

Good morning. It is overcast, cool & damp here with more rain on the way. Anyone know how to build an ark? We may be needing one. Rain expected to continue through the weekend & into next week with possible severe storms on Monday. Nice cool fall weather but can't even fire up the new fire pit with all this rain. What ever happened to "It's Tennessee. If you don't like the weather, hang around; it'll change"????? Time for a change already. Have a great weekend crew.

Howdy folks! Hubby and I went out to dinner tonite and on the drive back he said "hey, ya gotta check this out" and I'm like what what. So he pulls into Dunkin Donuts and he said "Look". Holy Cow! What did I see? A Brand New Tesla Filling Station! Not up and running yet, but all the pumps (electrical connectors) are in place.

Was to dark to take a pic so I'll drive by tomorrow, it's like ten minutes from my house. Must say its in a great location, right off the Sagamore Bridge, one of two bridges that go over the Cape Cod Canal. So if you're going to the Cape like thousands do for vacation every year, it's just one minute off the hi-way.

I've only seen two Teslas driving around here, so I'm wondering how many of these stations are springing up across the country. But then again, chevy does make the Volt and Nissan has the Leaf, and pretty much every auto maker has one coming out. I have seen a couple Volts driving around, so it looks like the electric stations should become more and more common.

Cool, I guess, but I won't be getting in line. I love my combustion way too much!

Mike & I tried to go by & check out the Octoberfest in Nashville but Mike being half German should have known better. It was pretty bad. 2 hours in line to get a beer so we passed on that. Just went into one of the restaurants, ate & checked out a few craft booths & left. We lucked out though & were there between rain showers, Better now.................. warm at home having a couple of adult beverages.

Hi gang.

Woke up at 4:30 AM to get ready for the Cruise on Central show today. We arrived at the lot in Phoenix around 6:25 AM. If you want a prime spot, you have to get there early to claim it. Prime spots were full by 7:30 AM. Through the course of the day, I estimate over 1000 cruisers were there and thousands of spectators walked the lot and lined Central Avenue.

We had a great time, and the weather was sunny and got up to 92*. I was at this show almost 12 hours, leaving at 5:45 PM. This is not a trophy show, but a show AND cruise. Only problem is, if you leave your parking spot to cruise, someone may take it. Can't save spots after 12 noon. And parking up by Central Avenue is the prime area!

Anyway, here is the photo thread;

Cruising season in Phoenix has begun!

The future is Coming! Another decade or so and it's likely most cars will have some sort of electric assist. Pretty much all the Supercars are tinkering around with it and slowly but surely they will fine tune it and bring the price down to the masses. They're so close to hitting the Zero to 60 under 2 Seconds Mark!!!

Yah, pretty sure the Petro Heads will be around Forever. Pretty amazing time in the auto world. The one thing I just can't get into, and millions of dollars are pushing for it, is the "driverless" car thing. I can't imagine being comfortable sitting in a car with no human driver behind the wheel.

Yeah, driverless is also just too weird, though I am all for using technology to protect us from our own human imperfection and the stupidity of other drivers to prevent crashes. I guess I just still don't get the logic of the electric cars thing. Where do they think most of that electricity comes from????? In the Tennessee Valley Authority area we have for years produced a huge amount of hydroelectric power but we still have lots of coal burning & nuclear power plants. I know we are doing more wind & solar power production too but still the vast majority of electric power is not really more "clean" than us driving around in our combustion engine cars. Just my 2 cents.

Love the pics Rick. Looks like you had a great day!

I have a baby shower to go to today. Oddly it will be the first great, great grandchild to be born to my long gone paternal grandparents, being born to one of the youngest of the great grandchildren. The great grandchildren do not seem inclined to procreate. Only a few have even married.

I can't help but be concerned about coming generations as it seems the ones who are procreating seems to be largely those who are the lowest functioning, least productive, least likely to be educated, etc and those who are bright, productive, highly motivated & most educated do not seem inclined to desire to be parents. Yes, there are exceptions but still not a good trend.

Thanks Jan.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the driverless car yet. I don't think a computer could pilot a car through the twisties in a fun manner.

There are two seasons in a Phoenix, Summer (3-4 months) and Awesome. Awesome has begun. Even though it was 94* today, the 16% humidity made for a comfortable day.

Drive 4 Kids

Took part in “Drive 4 Kids” today from Indian Mounds Park in St Paul, MN down the scenic drive to Red Wing, MN finishing with a car show there. I was very surprised and happy to win two trophies. Kids Choice and one of 20 People’s Choices. Thank you skipinminn (another People Choice winner) for sending me the photo.
Was in the 50’s, blustery, and finished with a little rain. Many cars left quickly when the rain started. Must have lived nearby.
