Auto transmission serviced last Thursday. When I picked it up service rep computer screen indicated release to customer. No bill at time of pickup (no paperwork). Friday received a call from dealership, I did not pay my bill. I asked why a bill as the Camaro was in for transmission warranty issue, first reported 3 years ago, and transmission still under warranty.

Today, Monday, had a 45 min. call with my service rep. (I called the dealership, they did not call me). Bottom line transmission still under factory warranty. TCM part replaced three years ago under warranty. Years ago when TCM replaced under warranty, moderate improvement in low gear hesitation (flares) between low gears. Now, a few years later, transmission still under warranty, returned to dealership for same low gear hesitation (flares) between low gear and auto only at under 7,000 miles.

Issue: current TCM (Part) previously replaced under warranty not the issue as current replacement TCM has not failed and does not require a 'part' replacement. Issue is that in the last few years GM updated the transmission Software that can help my 2011 A6 shift smoother, and GM realized there was an issue with the TCM software years ago. As I understand it |I was the first Camaro owner in North America to report this A6 flare with lower A6 gears. During following years others with the A6 transmission reported same issue of low gear hesitation (flares) in lower gears.

Bottom line, GM replaces PART's under warranty only if the part fails. GM does not cover under warranty SOFTWARE upgrades even if the auto is returned for continuing transmission issues. Bottom line I must pay for the latest GM transmission software to help resolve a transmission issue I reported and had serviced years ago with a replacement of the TCM. Bottom line, GM warranty only replaces parts, and if later found (still under warranty), GM does not cover software updates.

So next week will drop by my dealership and pay my bill for about $143 for the transmission software update so my transmission does not flare between lower gears, even though I thought my transmission was still covered by the warranty.

I do not apologize I am a little pissed off at GM at this time. My dealership excellent, this is a GM issue (and perhaps other auto brands). Perhaps I am old school but thought if I have a transmission warranty, then I expected the warranty to address ALL transmission issues. Instead I find my warranty only replaces bad parts, and not bad software.

Thanks!

IIRC, warranty coverage is different in Canada vs. USA. Sorry you are going through these issues.

I left work then to see the damage . It came from the bush beside us and was laying on the roof and blocking one doorway . When I got there the tree was around 80 feet long and it came down between two of our maple trees , I think they helped to break the fall . The good thing about it was that the top of the tree was on the roof and into the doorway , so minimal damage . Need to replace a piece of aluminum soffit ,screen door and entrance light that got broken . Got lucky !! I am glad I have all the equipment necessary to remove the tree , my farm tractor was used to lift the tree off the roof so I could remove it without anymore damage .. NOW one more thing on Thursday my 1970 rs z28 was sitting in front of the doorway and I decided to go and get it because they were calling for rain almost everyday this week. I don't want to think what my car would look like with a tree on its roof. Our cottage is in the bush and this is the first time one has hit or even come close to it in 30 yrs we have been going to it. I could not take any pictures since my company phone only allows me to post on inter company email. Bottom line no one got hurt and could have been worst ..The picture below shows my hot wheels Camaro close to same spot , doorway is about 6 ft behind it.
Thanks! Glad no Camaros were damaged.

Thanks Don!

Our 5th storm (remnants of Hurricane Simon) are approaching and will begin impacting us Tuesday night. I don't think we've ever had 5 hurricanes / tropical storms come through like this.

Good morning crew. It is a little less, but still chilly this morning with more rain/storms on the way. Just another day, another dollar. Coffee time. HAGD

The flood gates of work are overflowing again. At least I had almost a month of manageable work. Doing OT tonight.

My day was just average. I opened a case on a teen age girl today. First teenager I have seen in years. It was kind of nice. She was very bright & talented, lots of potential. Hopefully she will do well in therapy. I hope she gets assigned to a good therapist. Got to come home a little early again.

It is dead on C5 & Facebook tonight. Is that a sign I need to turn in early & maybe get up in the night to check out the eclipse????? Have a good evening/night crew.

Best I could manage. Canon SX10, hand-held at some unknown zoom, in between gaps in the clouds and tree branches. I turned the brightness down in the first picture and up in the last three just a little.

Nothing wrong with that. The more skin showing the better.

It was a rather busy day but I managed to get all my documentation done. Did not sleep much last night with the storms so I'm tired. Probably turning in early. Mighty quiet on-line lately. Have a good evening crew.

Hard to believe the difference that only 24 hours made ↓↓↓ . Same vantage point, same time of day within a few minutes, everything. And today nothing is getting in the way

It was down in the low 50°'s here this morning - still only 54° per the morning DJ on the radio station. Good sleeping weather with some of the upstairs windows still open, but just a little on the cool side downstairs so I've had to shut the little kitchen window over the sink for a while. Guess I'll have to round up an old hoodie while I finish up the shocks/struts replacement job on my wife's Subaru, give it an alignment and an oil change, and swap the last two 3-season wheels and tires out for the cold weather ones.
