Good morning crew. I turned in early last night. I have not been feeling just right the last couple of days. I suspect maybe my blood pressure has been up some. Another of the higher-ups in the company announced yesterday he was leaving for a new job. It is pretty scary when so many Sr Vice presidents & program directors start leaving in droves. You just got to think they know something bad is coming & are getting out while the getting is good. These are folks who have been with the company for many years & no one expected to leave or retire for many years to come. Oh well, nothing I can do about it. I did a little looking around at job ads but nothing I was interested in. I guess I will just have to hang in there & see what happens. Not the first time there have been such huge changes in the industry since I have been in it but hopefully it is the last. 5 years & counting to retirement!

The company may be trying to trim expenses and may have "packaged" those people to leave. I suspect the new owners of my company will do that too. One VP has already left. Maybe they will trim supervisors, as I only have 5.

Washed three vehicles today and waxed my truck. It so badly needs.to be clayed and polished, but that will have to wait until vacation in 3 weeks.

It was a dreary & cool day in Middle Tennessee. Very odd for July. But a welcome day to work outdoors. After a day of work outdoors now for a few adult beverages. A few more tweaks to the back yard (also planted a redbud tree behind the garage but did not take a pic):

I had a long day yesterday. Left Tennessee at 7:45 am and pulled into my driveway at 10:30 PM. We tried to stop in Cleveland but the campground was mostly full they had some grassy sites in the back but they were very wet from rain and I was afraid I would sink and get stuck in the mud so we just left and went home. That dreary cool weather Jan mentioned followed us all the way back home.

Today we unpacked and picked up my dogs and we are going to a memorial service this afternoon for my wife's friend that passed away last month. She donated her body for medical research so there will not be a traditional funeral. I had a great time in Nashville and I would definitively recommend it as a place that you should visit.

Glad you guys made it back safely. Sorry you had to drive straight through & were not able to take the break you wanted to. Hope you were able to get settled in & rest up some today.

We got up today did a few chores & headed out to see my dad & visit with Mike's parents. So once again, I sit here having eaten too much and relaxed & tanned floating around in the pool. Then I came home & took Ruby out for a drive, cleaned up her windshield & sat on the deck for a while. It was a good day. Daddy seemed to be doing pretty well today. Mike's dad is having increasing difficulty getting around & is in a lot of pain but he is a tough old bird and keeps pushing on. He retired as a post Sgt. Major & was highly decorated having served in Special forces many years. Still it is hard to see him struggle so.

I need to make myself get in bed earlier than I have been on work nights. Maybe I will feel better then. Hope everyone had a great weekend & have a good work week too!

I am so glad I went to the service today for my uncle Dick. It was beautiful. There were no tear jerking church songs, no long winded preachers reading long winded sermons. Oh, there were a few bible verses and prayers & a few choked back tears but mostly there was a touching tribute to a very giving man who gave endlessly to anyone in need, constantly gave joy to others with his humor, creativity, craftsmanship and knowledge, served his community in both law enforcement then as a fire fighter, and was devoted to his family and creating a loving, fun and happy life for them and everyone he touched.

He was carried to his final resting place lovingly by firefighters aboard the antique fire truck he helped to restore. His daughters rode in one of his antique cars. Fire engines & law enforcement vehicles blocked all intersections saluting him, a high bucket fire truck suspended a flag over the street, firefighters ceremoniously folded & presented the flag from his coffin, the bell on the fire truck tolled for him then doves were released. Here are a few pics & a tiny video of the dove release.

Those were some nice pictures.

Yep! post up pics for sure!

Good morning crew. I had a hard time going to sleep last night. I guess even melatonin could not overcome the effects of my mother-in-law's great German coffee. I just can't resist her coffee with dessert. I'm dreading another work week but "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go". HAGD all.
