All second information, hear say (Judge Judy anyone?). Sandusky was retired from the football program when this happened. Joe does not grant access to the facility. IMO, the failure was on McQueary. He witnessed the event, did not know what to do, so he called his dad. I believe McQueary was at least 28 yrs old at that time, old enough to know better and do the right thing(s). He also had credibility and respect, being a PSU QB. Campus security also investigated. But all the highlights are on Joe. It's obvious if you look at it know, something more should have been done. Hind sight is 20 20. Focus on the Sandusky and McQueary, it should have ended there. All the Joe haters really came out for this one. As an alum, it angers me in the way PSU handled this situation, both before and after the allegations.
Joe Paterno haters? Really?

EVERYONE loved Joe. I NEVER heard ANYONE rag on Joe Paterno. EVER.

He is not the most at fault by any stretch, but if you think Joe did his due diligence then I can't help you. Joe Paterno was the most powerful and influential and capable person in the situation. They 'ASKED' him to retire years ago and he said no. He was more powerful than the AD and the President.

What he should hafve done was call the cops. And MAKE McQueary tell the police what happened.

Joe takes heat on this not because of 'haters' but because people try to give him a pass. It's a story because of the ones who say Joe did what he should have done. THAT's the story. The President and AD will answer lawfully for what they did. And they deserve it. The law can't touch Paterno because of internal policies that are sickening. But Joes inaction is obviously irresponsible and horrible. Bad enough to force legislation to make his actions criminal in the future.

Most people are just confused and surprised that what we all thought was a super stand-up guy turned out not to be.

I disagree, what he should have done is report it to his boss, like he did. His boss should keep reporting up the chain... IMMEDIATELY for a ruling on what appropriate action needs to be taken.

You don't jump over your boss's authority in any situation. There are policies and procedures to be followed in any organization. If someone gets in my face at work, or slugs me at work, I'm not calling the cops (but I could). I need to report the incident to my immediate supervisor. Yes, this is NOT the same thing, but the point I am making is what is PSU policy state on who make this one decision, by an individual, group, etc.

Let's go the other way. Joe calls the cops, everything is investigated and it was 'his word against mine' and nothing happens immediately. Joe is fired for bring bad press to the PSU campus when it wasn't warrented and his supervisor is being interviewed claiming it should have been reported to him first and he would have made the decision, but since Joe can not follow our rules, he's out.

Joe is the most famous of all Coaches across the USA. I just don't get why PSU stuck a target on him and fired everything they had at him. Who's trying to protect who's a$$ in that scenario.
