Thanks everyone! We didn't have time to explore off the beaten path too much, but one year we will.

Yes, the hotel WiFi sucked! Nice place otherwise. Spell check seems to think it knows more than I do.

Every time I try to go to the club email, it wants me to make it the primary account which I do not want to do. I don't want that massive email address book mixed up with mine at all. On the old computer I had to have 3 different browsers & I only used the google browser for the club email. That apparently won't work on this one. I will need a geek to help me figure out this one.
I use Thunderbird for my email. you can setup multiple accounts also very easily. Yes, I am geek....

I found a way to move all my pics to the CD writer all at once but not to the thumb drive. Sometimes I wish I was not such a computer dummy but then that would take more reading & learning than I care to do. I admit to being lazy when it comes to learning technology. Better get myself in gear & get to work. HAGD all.
Standard copy commands should work for moving multiple files to a thumb drive. There are 2 ways to do it open the location where the files are then click on the first file you want to move. Then press and hold the shift key on the keyboard and click on the last file you want to copy. It should select all of the files between the 2 you selected. Then press the ctrl and c key. Then go to the thumb drive and press the ctrl and v keys. Those are the key commands for copy and paste. Just be careful to not copy more data at once than your thumb drive can hold.

The other way is to use hold the ctrl key then click on each file you want to copy. You can skip over files you don't want to copy this way but it takes longer to select the files. Use the same copy and paste commands to move them as I said above.

Part of the problem is, I already saved some of the pictures to the thumb drive but have added more since then. Now It will be a PITA to remember which ones I already saved & which ones not. The computer will tell me if the file already exists but it takes longer that way.

Now the new computer is not acting right. I tried to turn it on & it kept making odd noises (like a voice with volume really low) and the keyboard back lights kept blinking like it did not want to come on. When It finally did We did a few things hten tried shutting it down & it kept going off then coming right back on. We ran a system scan & it said all was okay. But it has done the same thing a couple more times. So Mike has been messing with it a while & I am on the old one. Now he says he thinks it is okay & I may switch over to it. We shall see.

We figured out that with this particular laptop when you shut it down you have to close it right away or you "confuse" it. I could not do my work notes on the new computer. I could get on the site and could key stuff on my schedule but could not do client notes. I could get in my work email & send emails. Still cannot access the club email. I was able to get most of my pics & some doccuments saved to thumb drive but ran out of space on all the drives I have. Guess I need to buy some more as & still have pics on SD cards to load someplace. Now I am tired. Sweet dreams all.

Doesn't the little pop-up give you a checkbox option to "do this for all occurrences" or some such wording, once you've chosen the option to skip?

Monday here was 5" more to shovel . . . which I then rewarded myself for with a late afternoon run to pick up some Smithwick's. Got to have an Irish brew on St. Pat's Day.

I stayed up too late last night. Really need my coffee. Mike will call the help desk folks at work this morning with the new computer to help sort out the problems. I remember one of our IT people saying there was something we would have to do once we got the new computer to make it interface properly with our on-line systems. Slowly but surely we will get all this stuff sorted out. Another chilly day today but dry with just some morning mist/fog. Friday back into the low 70's but chilly/rainy for the weekend. Maybe that will wash the rest of the salt off the roads. Then maybe the roads will be clean by the end of the week in time for me to drive Ruby to get her headers, sway bars & tune! Have a good day everyone.

Ruby, you are not alone. Appears I too will have to change my old XP to Windows 8 in April because support will stop. I will wait till last minute. I am seriously computer dumb. I am a professor and my office laptop I believe is Windows 8, or whatever is the latest, and I hate it. About the only thing I use my office laptop for is checking emails as I use my home computer for everything else. Just seems every time operating systems are upgrade to newest, newest seems to be less and less intuitive to use.

Other than my old operating system (and still using Office 2003) my home computer is pretty advanced. Over the years have bought all my home hardware from a local firm who also monitors in the background. I pay them $500 a year to keep everything working as it should be. Always amazed how few issues I have and what they can do to keep my computer running without issues and never come to my home to repair. When I have issues with home computer (seldom), can contact them 7/24 and they send a geek to my home to fix at no additional charge, nights and holidays.

I try to look at the glass as half full, not half empty. My only brother is a retired auto designer, retired advertising exec., retired race car driver, retired stock broker, retired software geek at Microsoft. He get bored easily (LOL). Love my brother but we only communicate about 4-5 times a year via email or phone, he lives in Charlotte NC. So I suppose when I am forced to change to Windows 8 (or whatever) will need to make a few more phone calls to brother to help me figure things out.

On another note, love looking at everyone’s pictures. Any warm weather scenes appreciated. Tuesday here in Ottawa, wind chill still below 0 F. Even here in Canada wondering if it will every be warm again. Looking forward to the geese returning home.

Pic taken near my urban high-rise home last fall of "snow birds" before they headed south for the winter. Note: must be a local thing but I live in a 24 story high-rise surrounded by what is called "experimental farms", government owned. Don't know what crops they are experimenting on but birds feeding on crops sure get big and not even slightly bothered by human contact or give way to my Camaro. But I do have clear views from my 19th floor and believe it or not only a 15 min. drive to downtown Ottawa and nations parliament building.

Ruby, seldom reply, but follow this thead daily. Love reading all the posts that are personal.
This morning woke up with stress related dreams at 3:30 AM after only 4 hours of on and off sleep. Coffee, more coffee, replying to business emails, no classes on Tuesday. Now close to 8 AM, just poured a screw-driver, going to sign off the web and mark student design projects for the new few hours. Between my Wed. and Thursday classes remaining this week, have about 45 hours of student design projects to evaluate and mark before next Monday class.

Took my daughter and son on a top-own cruise tonight. Some of the nighttime views are excellent. Wish I took some pics, but I was driving. My daughter is enjoying our weather, so much nicer than the latest weather in Maryland.

It's been fun! Just wish I could have taken vacation, but my team co-worker is out on short term. Both of us cannot be gone at the same time.

C5 people are great! Glad you are getting help with your computer Jan. You'll be a Windows 8 pro in no time.

Old, but not old enough...

65.5

You mean YOU drive a Camaro?

Response...

I'm not OLD enough to drive a Corvette...

I think it is sad that Camaro throws a spellcheck squiggly and CORVETTE is actually in the dictionary. Oh wait, is it because a corvette is a BOAT?
