Zandron, I'm with you. It is time for spring already!
Sorry you guys are getting hit AGAIN. We had a nice day here today........on the motorcycle today.........but cold weather is on the way!

I'm going to start getting my car ready for our first big event. Pony Wars in Valdosta, GA. Little bit of drag racing

It is an icy mess here. Won't be going ANYWHERE today. Maybe not tomorrow either. Still coming down, temps won't get warm enough for salt to do anything but we still have power so it's all good.

Here are a few pics:

Looked about the same in Oklahoma, but we got some thundersnow! Don't recall ever seeing lightning during a snow/sleet/ice storm

Mike had just meantioned in passing that he was going to have a surprise for me. I actually forgot about it but even at the time I was thinking something small. This is what I got:

I think I remember this when I was in Oklahoma...........you must have been on the road

I heard that you all were having snowquakes............

I don't care, it's still home.............

Daughter is heading there for a funeral tomorrow, supposed to fly tonight, but she's been bumped from flights since Saturday..........

Jeez, how long does it take to back up a computer?

My laptop is still going through the back up process, and I'm on my 8th disc. This is the laptop I download all of my photos onto. So I guess that is what's taking all the time.

Nice camera Jan. If you want to get all you can out of it, check out this book;
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-D3100-Du.../dp/1118004728

YouTube has tons of instructionals too. Nikons can do some amazing things.

Oh, and it was sunny and 76*today. We did have record rain on Saturday though.

Thanks Rick. I'll check that out. I used to know a little about photography................back when we still used film. Now I am losing ground to technology. Looking at that owner's manual I felt a bit like I needed to take another class. Next I will have to get a new laptop. I don't think I trust this one with my new camera. I'll use the desktop for a while until then.

I don't know how much you already know, so stop me if you already know what I suggest.

The owners manual is a good start, and will serve you well to operate the camera. I have found it very helpful to read what other users experience and do with a camera. I've already got two D7100 books and have learned tons! You will too.

Start out in auto mode and go to a car show or cruise. Take lots of pics, all of the cars if you have to. Some pics will be good, some won't be good. Try to be cognizant about holding the camera as still as possible. Begin good habits now. You'll learn what works well and what does not. From there, experiment with the different settings and take lots of pictures. Before you know it, you will find yourself very comfortable using that Nikon.

And above all, have fun. I enjoy shooting photos at car shows and cruises.

Thanks Rick. I guess photography basics will still serve me well but the settings, and stuff related to downloads, editing, resizing, posting etc with this many pixels as well as my pittifully old computers will post a challenge.

Off to work. It will be a challenge locally & then traffic will be bad as pot holes in Nashville have shut down hte interstate & those folks will be on the highway I usually use. Better get moving. It is a bit 11 degrees & single digit wind chill outside. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. HAGD all.

Very nice, Ruby. From the little that I know about these things, not having all those megapixels crammed onto a fingernail-sized sensor is a major step up from most "SLR-like" cameras.

Will we be seeing a picture taken with it about 3 days from now?
