Good thing is brake ducting kits are about $150. For guys who buy entire wheel combos specifically for racing (slicks/skinnies; lightweights with grip slicks), a brake pad, fluid and $150 duct kit will not break the bank.

I agree and I would guess most people really racing will change pads at minimum anyways since most OEM pads always give up some resistance to fade for resistance to noise and brake dust.

Ya, a little brake tune up will go a long way.
I bet it's not too hard to get some stainless lines installed as well. Just need a 1 man brake bleed kit and some time to kill haha. If I had a gt500 or zl1, I'd change out the fluids for synchromesh/synchromax gear oil, royal purple engine oil, dot 4 brake fluid, and racier brake pads and some NGK TR6's. Hell, I'd probably even throw a little blinker fluid and grease the muffler bearings too. A little tune up goes a long way.

It's great to know that the 57%/43% weight distribution, fixed axel, low tech, over powered Mustang is keeping right in step with the ZL1 with the times at the track. Clearly they need to put a ducting solution in that car. Sweeeet! Erik

That was a nice read. It was really cool to see that if the two cars started the lap at the exact same time, the lead changes 12 times.
Amazing how balanced both of these cars are. Personally I can see the most extreme modding enthusiasts, people who only want to drag race, true racers as they can consistently put out amazing times, and people who only care about numbers (generally not enthusiast, but rather show offs, these guys will trade when the next biggest and baddest thing come out) and of course die-hard Ford guys choosing the GT500, while the ZL1 attracts to people who want something more liveable, yet still amazing at the track with better and more consistent handling, and of course the die-hard Chevy guys. I may be biased, but I think the ZL1 looks better too

With a 24% power-to-weight advantage for the GT500, it's very surprizing the two are that close.
THAT is the difference between a V6 Mustang (3446/305 hp) and a 1SS Camaro (3860/426 hp). THE VERY SAME! How do THOSE TWO compare? |

Once you get to the level of horsepower that the GT500 and ZL1 are at, the effects of horsepower/torque aren't as pronounced.

Diminishing returns.
Add 100 HP to a 14 second car, and add 100 hp to a 10 second car. Your return won't be as good of an investment on the faster car.

Here's comments from driver from Raven Racing driving Sebring Raceway with better dot brake fluid and stock tires. His time was 2:29. Erik
