We are getting the snow end of that system now. 6" to 12" in the forecast but I am thinking based on what has fallen so far it will be closer to the 6". Supposed to be another snow storm over the weekend we will see. I am so done with winter but its not going to end around here anytime soon. Just happy to have 2 4WD vehicles to drive now and leave the Camaro in the garage covered up.

You got a good education Twisty we certainly get our fair share of the lake effect here. I would bet in your job you have driven in all weather conditions so you would be the guy I would take driving advice from.

Here's a good tip... Roads slick? Don't know how fast to drive? You come up on a car driving slower so you decide to follow. Then another car does the same thing. Then another, another, etc. It really does happen exactly like that. You have miles of road with no traffic, then 20 cars go by in a group.

Never pace another vehicle on slick roads unless you're a football field away and no one is near you. If traffic starts piling up, slow down or speed up and get away from them, someone is going to screw up and take you with them in the process.

Next time it's bad and a lot of cars are in the ditch, watch how many times there are more than one vehicle in that area. First car brakes and spins, second car freaks out, brakes and spins right in the ditch with them. Sometimes it's 3 or 4 cars. (Trucks will do the same thing.)

It's almost always the brakes that spin you, car gets a little loose, driver freaks and goes to the fat pedal..... you just screwed the pooch. If you could hear me when the brake lights come on up front...... "GET OFF THE #$%^&*@#$ BRAKES!"

.... and... that's all I have to say about tha-at.

Yeah - the Explorer was pretty "undriveable" after that. But the good news was that even after going underneath a tractor trailer and into a wall, I was able to walk away (after crawling over the seat and forcing open the rear passenger door) with only glass guts on the backs of both hands and a slightly strained left knee! Damn, I loved that truck!

Dang, Andy, That looks bad! Glad you were not hurt worse. Sorry you lost your much loved truck though. Just another example of why I try my best to stay off city interstates. Between distracted & stupid drivers and at those speeds it is just a really good way to die. Take the speeds down some & subtract the higher numbers of distracted/stupid drivers & the highways are just a much safer way to commute. Just IMHO

I had a few clients show up today but still not close to my usual volume. I had to skip my exercize class because just at time for me to go, Mike called saying it was snowing hard in Springfield & sticking to the roads & it was not worth the risk so I came home. I hate it though. I love my class & hate to miss it & the snow had coated the roads by the time I got home but it was dissapating & I probably would have been fine.

I have to go to a stupid training all day tomorrow & I dislike driving someplace I have never been to a training. I tend to have Murphy's law mornings & then get anxious about driving an unfamiliar route and maybe being late & walking in late with everyone looking. I have my route all mapped out, clothes picked out, alarm set to get up earlier.............................but that darn Murphy's law gets me every time! Maybe just once.................well, we'll see.

Wow! Glad you walked away.

I learned to drive in snow by doing donuts in empty, snow covered parking lots. Sure, it was fun to spin around and lose control, then I began to learn how to gain control. Helped me in many snowy road conditions!

Haven't had to drive in snow in over 4 years.

He's a glimpse into my childhood. Every time I would ride in my dad's '63 Bel Air, I would take the owners manual out of the glove box and read it. Especially loved the pictures. The car is long gone, but I found this on eBay.

Good for you...........I am constantly amazed that people do not read their owner's manual! How do you maintain or keep up with maintenance on your car? A car is such a big investment!

This morning there are some creeks flooding & some water main breaks around the area this morning but most of the rain is past other than some light drizzle/mist/freezing drizzle in few areas. But the temps are going down today. I am so over winter! Come on spring! Happy hump day everyone.

Happy late Hump Day!

Up early to head out to this dumb meeting. Some black ice & light flurries scattered around again too. Not much time as I need to get going. Check out hte story I posted on the general forum about a local yellow 5th gen Camaro impersonating an LEO, pulling folks over & robbing them, I just hate that. Hope they catch them soon. HAGD all.

It is TOO COLD at –13 with a wind chill of –25 to take my wife to the health clinic and transport her from the van in a wheelchair. BURR! Rather stay home and comfy today. Glad yesterday appointments with my Mom was on a little warmer day.

The drive was not that bad this morning. This evening as I turned to look behind me to back out of my parking place & noticed some brownish dried drizzle stains in the passenger side rear pillar between the rear & side glass (on Pepper). Looked like there could have been a leak in the rear glass. I drove back by the dealership & had them look at ithe wanted me to bring it back in the morning so they can do a leak test. I just can't figure why it should look like that. It almost looks like someone carelessly cleaned the rear window using a squeege & just let the liquid drizzle down the upholstery. But it was not there before & no one has even been in the back seat of my car since I got it. If there is not a leak the only thing I can think of is they did it when they detailed the car but it did not show up until the substance had time to sit a while & darken. I guess we will see. My only hesitation in taking it in is that it is not supposed to get above freezing at all tomorrow & when I took my car in for it's oil change they said they could not wash cars because the day before they washed one & the doors froze closed. It was colder that week but still. Is that even decent weather to do a leak test in?
