seriously i prefer the spooky old 30s movies to the goofy gory slasher movies.

they can at least explain it. if it's supernatural then start off the story that way. just don't have the guy get shot, die, then show up again in the next movie.

The only scary movies I've seen come out in the last 15 years are the paranormal series...the rest are all just gory slaughter movies
