What's wrong with this picture?
To be fair, you don't have to do anything illegal to get suspended. Just make the organization look bad.

Lol.....what's wrong with this picture?
John Nash....have you not been watching football over the past few years? or are you just focusing on "situational football" please tell me what's been right with the picture.
Let me guess...you want that damn Patriot suspended for 6 games even though he has no previous history of this kinda play ,when there's multiple time offenders getting one game suspensions regularly...and some just getting fined.

it has to do more with the issues the NFL has for discipline, or lack of standard for it. You have to wrap specific procedures and protocols around these situations to have set guidelines. In the case of the Patriots, or anytime a player seeks out another player, to harm/strike after the play is over.. .. should be XXX game suspension and fined XXX dollars.

They NFL is definitely lacking in this type of discipline rules and ruling. If they had this laid out, then the Players Association wouldn't be objecting to every disciplinary ruling.

Yes I've been watching football.

I don't recall seeing anyone, ever in the past few years, strike a defenseless player while they were on the ground, facing away from them, after the whistle, with all their weight, using a protective guard they have on their arm as a weapon, and as a result of their action, sending the player into concussion protocol.

It doesn't matter who the player is, or what team they play for.

I don't care if the person who did this has no prior infractions. They should be ejected, fined, and suspended. Having no priors doesn't make the player that is injured get better. If someone did this in public, they would go to jail for aggravated assault.

Ezekiel Elliot was accused of something that was never proven to be true, and yet he gets a longer suspension.

I believe I read that Ezekiel has a history of sexual misconduct, I believe that played a role in the term of his suspension, but I do agree that Goodell and the NFL are all over the place, look at the guy that was suspended 4 games because it was " more probable than not " that he knew the balls may have been deflated.

My entire point exactly. If your suspected of something, without proof, even if there is proof to debunk it, you get a longer suspension than if you intentionally try to injure a player.

Football is a somewhat violent game to begin with, and injuries occur all the time though the course of normal play on legal hits.

I just saw where two players from last's nights game (I didn't watch it) were also suspended 1 game for illegal hits. Same suspension, one game, no one ejected, no one fined.

How long will this continue before someone gets hurt permanently?

For the dirty hits, on the first infraction, an ejection, a fine, and a 1 game suspension. The second time a player does it, and ejection, double the fine, and 3 game suspension. Third infraction, adios, your no longer eligible to play in the NFL.

I don't know how they teach todays players, but back when I played in HS, you were taught to be a sportsman.
You didn't taunt another player, intentionally try to injure another player, or disrespect the officials, or coaches. If you did, you didn't play on the team anymore. Didn't matter if you were All State or 3rd string.

Plenty of hard hitters in the NFL back then, Lawrence Taylor, Ronnie Lott, Junior Seau, the whole '85 Bears defense (probably the best defense ever). You rarely saw dirty hits then, and players would get ejected if they did it.

There was more respect for the game and players back then. The coaches played a larger roll in discipline along with the owners. The players feel like they have the power/money to do what they want because they are superstars.

and Godell signs another 5 yr/$200 million extension. Kind of says the owners are happy with the way things are run. Must be why more owners are getting elected into the Hall of Fame now.
