Nice!

I bowl two leagues during the summer at home. Sunday night and Thursday night.

I think two is a good number, more than one but not too much.

It's been 15 years since I bowled more than 1 league. Hope I can handle it.

Have enough beers and you can handle anything.

You should come up and bowl a league in Auburn once a week.

I did a bit better this week, more consistant. I was haunted by several splits and failure to close some frames but im getting there.

126-126-111=363

I think if i practice more than just once a week, not including league play, i should be able to find my groove.

practice is really only good if you are practicing the right stuff. Otherwise, you are making bad habits a muscle memory. If you practice, practice with someone good that can give you something to work on while you practice. Not trying to discourage you from going, just urging you to make it more worth your while.

This is true, but if this isn't a feasible option then go and work on one thing only.

For instance, if your balance is poor..go work on balance for a few games not worrying about your score.

If you are having a hard time hitting your mark, pick an arrow on the lane (2nd is always a good choice) and work on just drilling that mark over and over...but once again don't worry about your score.

Once your fundamentals are down, then you can go and start working on getting that average up!

Practice throwing your first ball at picking up the corner pins. I am working with my son on just hitting the 7 pin, next frame the 4 pin, next frame the 6 pin, next frame the 10 pin. Repeat. Now with his second ball of the frame throw for the pocket. This gives you a chance to throw 2 balls every frame. IF you want to increase your avg. you MUST pick up your spares. No excuse for missing a 1 pin spare, it happens we all miss them now and then. But if you have 7 open frames per game. I can increase you avg. 30 pins by just picking up 3 or 4 more spares.

STRIKES WILL COME..........SPARES YOU HAVE GOT TO MAKE..........Rule # 1 for good scoring.

Just remember, it takes HUNDREDS of games. The good thing is it's fun while you go.

You should be getting a discount for bowling league.

Agreed. Better to get it right now while it's ......... easier........ to learn.

However, I have seen some damn good bowlers with some FUNKY ass approaches.

I remember when it was taught as fundememtals to keep your shoulders level. Then they started actually teaching to drop the shoulder, then they started actually teaching to OPEN the shoulders. The more they stretch the more variables to negotiate in an approach, swing and release. But even the pros were teaching this.

I agree though, it's better to have someone get you on track early. ALWAYS makes for quicker improvement.

Difference in 30 pins by average, average.

I stayed at 180 average for a long time back in the mid 90s. Couldn't get my average up for nothing. Hooked the shit out of my ball and would hook at the spares too. 10 pins were a bitch. Probably hit 2 ten pins out of 10. Now I probably hit 19 out of 20. Throw the ball straighter at spares.

I changed my spare throw up and LITERALLY within a month I was about 30 pins better of a bowler. That simple.... that important.

Sure, my average climbed at the given pace, but I was shooting with a 630 avferage immediately and my league average on all my leagues just started to climb. I was an awesome team-mate at that time.

Averaged over 200 from there out.
