I know of one or 2 guys that have a machine gun license, but I was referring to the ongoing Mass Assault Weapon Ban. FSGuns.com is selling out of everything. I want to get the S&W AR-15 ORC.

I own an AR15, and I ask the same question! But for a different reason.

The AR15 is a modular concept rifle. You can change calibers easily and without gunsmithing, by swapping in different uppers. It's stoopid-easy. The AR15 is sometimes called the 'barbie doll for men' but I think it's more like a lego set

But what many people do is buy different lowers for different dedicated builds with different barrel lengths, calibers, etc. My personal preference would be to use one lower and take advantage of the modularity

Can buy the lower, and purchase a part at a time, rather than spend $600...

err $1200...

err $2000 on a complete rifle.

That's how fast the prices went up in 3 days

Hey, if it's something that is legal and you're interested in they should be readily available to you all. It's just another hobby.

Yes they do but people like to have different variations. For instance close range, long range, tactical, etc. I want a few more because I have one set up for close range 100 yards or so. I want another for long range, hunting. And wouldn't mind having another to try different stuff with, kinda like modding Camaro's once you start you can't stop. It's fun, it's a hobby I enjoy safely and respectfully just like racing.
