Can someone please explain to me what the "lowers" are that everyone was having a hard time finding.
It's the main part of an AR that you need to build one. Kind of like a frame for a car so to speak.

That is also the part you have to register. All other parts can be swapped around, sold given away and no paper work. But if you sell the lower to someone else you have to transfer it to them and get it register to the new owner.

Pro 2A is pro Second Amendment. I carry a Glock 26. I pray that I never have to use it, but I won't be the person lunging unarmed at a crazy armed man. Here is a story about a law abiding citizen possibly stopping a mall shooting before more died

^^^This is the only part of an ar15 that you have to register for. This is the lower. It is numbered kind of like a vin.

pro 2A means you support the Second Amendment

A 'lower' refers to the lower receiver on an AR15 type rifle. As an example, although this is more than just the lower, it gives the idea:

No offense to anyone, we all are truly hurt by what happened. I just don't want this thread shut down.
It's alright, it can go on tangents as long as everyone is agreeable.... besides, the MAN is watching... I'm sure he'll warn before any closings....

..... Right, MAN?

Yes, this. And you have a "lower" and a "stripped lower". The second picture is the entire lower, where pieces can be changed out. The stripped lower is just the chunk of metal that is regulated.

Thanks guys. Why is everyone in need of lowers? Seems like the one that comes with the gun should last forever, no?

You can build the entire weapon around the lower.

I've never checked, as I don't have the money to buy a transferable class III or the money to lose on ammo, but I'm not sure if that's Commonwealth-wide, or local laws in towns and cities. I'm almost positive I know somebody with a legal class III in MA, but he does have an FFL 01, which is a rule changer in many ways

You can build them in variations... a pistol, a stubby rifle, a long barrel rifle, etc. etc.

Some buy them as investments. Guns never go down in value over the long haul.
