I just read the review myself. I expected the Ford to win, but not the biased looking review. They loved the styling before, and said the challenger was to expensive. Suddenly the styling is old news and money is no object. The camaro also somehow ended up being slower than before in their tests. Hrm....yeah makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. There is no difference in performance between a 1SS and 2SS. Are you saying that if someone made that assumption that it would be equivalent to saying that the 2011 Mustang GT is offered with a track-pack?

Reviews like that are why they give 3 year subscriptions for $10.

Love it.

If people are dumb enough not to do a full investigation themselves, then they deserve what they get.

I'd like to see GM succeed but I would also rather not have the streets flooded with cars just like mine.

I say "Buy a Mustang," I can't go 5 miles without seeing 20 or 30 of them.

Some observations from the motor trend article - which could be considered splitting hairs, but w/e I'll post them anyways- I'm sure half will consider/half will immediately disparage them.

1. I really think a "track pack" would really help help the Camaro, because the standard equipment and setup of the Camaro seems to be in more of a GT format. For example, 20" full weight wheels could be reduced to 19's, decreasing rotating mass, better gears once again would help the Camaro catch back up with the Mustang as well. Here come's some splitting of hairs as well- the gas tank in the Mustang is 3 gallons smaller (I don't expect Chevy to swap it out), but the Camaro is "latently" carrying more weight around here as well..

2. A potential huge issue- it says they are running regular unleaded in the SS....uhhhh, guys? We have seen the power issues and the L99 being on lower octane fuel trims- if that is a reality.

12.4- I highly doubt that.

I think the 12.5 the ONE Guy ran with a Camaro was a far stretch from the norm.

12.8-13.0 is the likely Camaro run
I am betting the Mustang will be just a fraction better.

Ultimately it will be close enough to be a drivers race.

Average Driver vs Average Driver it will probably be 5 wins for each-- out of 10. Maybe 6/4..

But what do I know.

Wait, what? They weren't running premium? That seems odd. I checked the 2010 vs. 2010 review and it says premium for the SS. The 2011 GT vs. 2010 SS has the SS with regular. A really odd thing to do for a performance test, but who knows if that is what they're really running.

Also, the Camaro got better mileage than the GT... 13.3 MPG versus the Mustang's 11.5 MPG. Odd. Even the SRT did better at 13.2 MPG.

It affects both the L99 and LS3 as the PCM for each moves to lower octane tune meaning less timing, less power. If they did truly put 87 octane in the tank then fail on their part.

The shape of the windows from the inside in the camaro compared to the other two look way cooler and more aggressive. I do not mind the visibility, I can see fine. I hope people listen to them and buy the mustang, that way there will be less camaros.

Realistically, 85% of the Muscle cars shown will be bought by middle aged people who will never race them, don't have the skills to be competetive, and would be scared to death to see what they can really do. 5% will go to kids whose parents should know better, and the last 10% will be the people who know the potential of the cars. The last 10% are the ones that will hit the track, do the mods, and test the platforms to the fullest. Unfortunatly, the automakers have to cater to the 85%, and the 10% have to correct the short-comings. The positive side is that the volume brings down the price, and brings out the individual interpretations of what is the "BEST" Muscle Car.

really

The Mustang isn't stock because ford offers options for gears and brakes when Chevy didn't?

Last time I checked stock meant as is from factory.
