Yes children are being affected by Covid.

Last week, Kentucky reported more than 30,000 new cases, according to Gov. Andy Beshear, a weekly record since the onset of the pandemic.

“Our hospital situation has never been more dire in my lifetime than it is right now,” Beshear said. “We cannot handle more sick individuals.”

More than 400 members of the Kentucky National Guard, as well as strike teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's emergency medical services, have now been deployed to help struggling hospitals across the state.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida reached another grim Covid milestone amid the Delta surge: Since August, the number of Covid-related child deaths in the state has more than doubled.

The childhood fatalities have left pediatric experts deeply concerned about how the virus will affect youngsters in the months ahead as children interact in classrooms, even as the overall number of infections and hospitalizations in the state appears to be cresting.

So, let's break this down by statistics:

Out of 30K, there will be 24K (80%) which have mild to no symptoms. Out of the remaining 6K
an unknown amount will need some sort of medical treatment.

That means a visit to a doctor's office, an ER, hospital stay, or ICU bed.

It wouldn't be all 6,000 people need an automatic hospital trip.

Do me a major. Post the hospitalization and death statistics for US ages 12 to 17 as a percentage of their population.

So, if 1 child died previously, and 3 have died since August, we now have a more than doubling in the death rate.

You can't take these news reports at face value....

I’m starting to think that Aragorn falls into that category.

My state of Wisconsin reports the following
5,220,000 population
648,240 cases (~15%)

Cases are equivalent to being vaccinated IMO. Meaningless. Hospitalized and deaths are the measure.

https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/cases.htm

If we were following the science, our focus would be on those with comorbidities and the elderly. Forcing vaccines on those under 40 isn’t needed.

We know Covid affects the younger population less severely. It's never been about that. The problem is that children are the ultimate incubator and mode of transportation for the virus. It's not about how it affects them, it's about who they can give it to.

As for taking your tax dollars and going to private schools, have at it. I've seen how that works out first hand. But that's a whole different conversation.

And for all the folks saying we tried following the mask rules and it didn't work, well that's because people wouldn't use the masks correctly. That's why I don't trust a good number of people in this country. They're willing to put more effort into crying than actually helping.

No. It does not. See WI State data in #275.

My wife works in a public middle school specifically dealing with physically and developmentally disabled. She had one student (4th grade) hospitalized. He already had severe respiratory birth defects but survived.

Underlying health issues are a while different story.

Beats the crap out of me, This is the list of vaccinations children need to go to public schools in CA.
