I've owned many Ford F150's...4WD, 2WD, and been very happy with all of them. I'm sure Chevy and GMC make just a good a truck, but have always stuck with Fords. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. I know nothing about the Rams.

In the 150 segment, everyone is making a great truck right now. I'm not sure if Ford has started putting in their 6.2s- I always get nervous for the first couple years on a new engine. I'm sure it will be a good engine over time but I'll let someone else have the honor of breaking those in. The 5.4 runs well but it doesn't feel as lively as the Chevy or Dodge.

The Dodge's ride really nice with the coil spring rear. The 6.2 Chevy is really a good truck motor because it makes so much torque down low. If ground clearance is a concern then Dodge and Ford do have a little more than Chevy.

Honestly if a 150 suits your needs, it all comes down to personal preference on the interior and options. They'll all tow a boat. I think some of Ford's tow ratings on their 150s are very optimistic though so keep that in mind if he's thinking about towing something bigger eventually.

I say the silverado. The ford strains as if it is overworking and all dodges I know are always being sent in for work.

I've had 3 dodge trucks all 1500's and they all took a beaten and never had an issue. That said, my 2007 dodge ram 5.7 gets horrible gas mileage. I'm averaging 15.0 mpg thats both city/hwy driving combined. The dodge will offer the best bang for the buck!!!!

Could not disagree more about the fuel economy of the 5.7L Hemi MDS (see link below), its very good for the power output it has.

And cheap interiors... are you kidding?... See the link and attached picture:

A combined city/highway mileage of 15.0 for a full size truck does not seen horrible to me... what mileage were you expecting? My 2004 5.7L Quad Cab Ram averages about 14.4 MPG without MDS...

The Dodge has the nicest interior especially the laramie. They also have alot of neat features like the in floor drainable cooler, and the ram box that makes the side of the bed a huge storage compartment. The Ford has the next best interior but the overhead cam design of the motor doent make alot of low rpm torque. The Hemi is just a great engine and has proven itself. As far as the Silverado goes, Id get the Sierra version instead. It looks much better than the Chevy.

I heard that the Dodge has or is getting wifi hot spot technology and an internet browser. The new 390 hp hemi has new heads, intake and TB is a big improvement over the first gen hemi's. I think the rear seats are more comfy and feel bigger in the Doge's more since they now have the new Crew Cab which is larger then the quad cab but smaller then the mega cab.

I am a lifelong Ford guy, and have owned an F-150 for 13 years now.

But...if I was buying now, it would be the Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie. It is a gorgeous truck, state of the art interior, has power galore. I sat in one, and it was the most comfortable, appealing interior I can remember.

A no brainer. Second choice: Ford F-150.

Just bought my 3rd Ram, It has the best interior in my humble opnion and the 390 horse HEMI just can't be beat for power and cruising, I didn't look at a Ford and the Silverado interior reminded me of a Buick....

Go with the dodge. They make a lot of power, the interiors are great, ride and drive is awesome, and you can still get low gears which is good for hauling and towing. Sucks that Chevy no longer offers gears any lower than 3.42 unless you get the Max package, which is the only way I would buy a new chevy.
