I didn't think they (Ford) would do pushrods again. Thanks for looking it up. |

Unless its a new block design, it should weigh roughly the same. And if its OHC it will be heavier than OHV.

The 6.2L weighs more than the 5.0L, but physical size of the block wasn't nearly the issue that the cubes were. A 5.8L version of the 6.2L Boss was the planned engine for Mustang duty prior to the fuel economy and CAFE changes we are now all too familiar with. After that it was just too thirsty to justify and we ended up with the 5.0L. |

That seems ridiculously high for a ~500 hp race engine. Hell, a Nascar Sprint Cup stock car is said to cost around that much. The 850-900 hp engines are around $50k.

Ford left the pushrod motors way too soon. The overhead cam motors are anemic.

Actually, believe it or not the Corvair is one of my favorite Chevy's and I think a budget, rear engined, sports car revival of that car would be phenomenal. That said, from marketing point of view it was a disaster. Eh, we like what we like.

Well those are peak numbers, id like to know what the curve is and how high you have to spin it to get anything out of it. Im very familiar with Fords, ive had everything from procharged 5 liter coupes to the 4.6 cobra and lightnings. The cammed motors just dont have the grunt down low the pushrods do. Thats why everyones putting really low gears in them do get anywhere. Although they do respond to forced induction very well. No wonder the aftermarket and alot of the factory cars get blowers.

I cant wait to see if they are putting this in the F250's or if they are going to use something else. I know for 2011 they are getting a killer new diesel.
