But he's saving money in lower ins. premiums and has no points on his license. Remember the mantra here; "You have to pay to play". It doens't always mean mods for the car.

Call the lawyer. Mail the ticket to him. Give him some money. Forget about it then and make another margarita.

I'll skip it all and just take the margarita. Top shelf, on the rocks, with salt please.

Just pay the ticket, it will be cheaper than paying a lawyer and the ticket. Most states won't give you points for an out of state ticket and your insurance company won't find out about it unless you change companys or make a change to your policy. BTW if you get a ticket in a US park or US forest its a federal ticket, found out the hard way.

really they dont give out of state points? i just read on NJ DMV website that i will get points for out of state tickets...that would be awesome if i dont get the points...the fines arent my worry, just the points are.

Depends if NJ and NY have reciprocity or not. I'm betting they do. If not just pay the ticket.

Don't speed at all. I go the speed limit EVERYWHERE in the Camaro. I get passed all the time but I don't care. Just yesterday, while Darin was coming home from CincySpeed's dyno day, he saw a Yellow SS on the other side of the highway, passing traffic which probably means he was hauling ass, and about 200 yards behind him a cop, who was in traffic, flips his lights on chased him down.

Not worth it. Fines, raised insurance rates, points on license. Been there and done that. Never again.

You guys really, REALLY need to stop making blanket statements based on what YOUR state does. This guy may not be as lucky. You are all telling him he must get a lawyer and his worries will be gone so he frolick through the fields with butterflies all while sniffing roses....

It doesn't work like that in every state....I always advise a person to consider a legal rep... It is no hassle to me, I get paid OT to be in court. Many attorneys are actually very cool people just doing their jobs....what they don't tell you is they do not even attempt to fight the ticket.

They walk up to the officers and ask if the officer is ok with adjudication withheld(points being withheld) essentially a no contest plea. That STILL shows up on your record and a cop will see that on your next traffic stop...most cops are perfectly fine allowing you to have no points placed on your license as long as you were respectful. I have never once rejected an attorneys request...but I also have watched fellow officers who were treated poorly during the traffic stop request points, driving school, or community service. Which at times a judge will hear how your demeanor was delivered on scene and will order you to all three. Often requiring the courses to be completed in person...

Give this guy advice and an OPTION to contact an attorney.....but stop making blanket statements such as "Oh you will only pay 100 bucks and have no points".

Long time ago the Maryland State Troopers would be standing outside of their patrol cars in the freaking left lane pointing for your happy-speeding-ass to pull over.....

Wrong states to be hauling ass in.....you better drive like your grandma-ma in the right lane..............

And if you have NY or NJ tags that's an "automatic" have the blue/red lights behind you and pray they don't turn on..just because.... I'm retired Deputy Sheriff and I ain't messing with 'em..professional courtesy or not...
