Look! A barf-mobile in a barfy colour (in the link).
Hmmm, guess you know what i think of it...

A bigger engine just makes it a faster pile of sh*t.

I've seen and done many engine swaps that were not intended to fit.

if you can get v8's into the old Rx7's.. you can get one in a Genesis. Especially with a factory and engineering teams at your disposal.

it's not likely that I'd by it, but it's good that others are trying! no competition results in awful vehicles

V6 starts at 24995, like the Camaro and Mustang a loaded model, navigation, etc tops out around 32k, so a 31k-32k starting price for a V8 Gen coupe would not be unbelievable. It won't happen though, not without a major redesign because the V8 just will not fit.

Ah, but when you are doing a swap on your own there is no worry about crumple zones, etc.

True enough Stew

I'm pretty sure "unsafe" is a gentle word to describe some of them.... I distinctly remember drilling holes in hockey pucks for engine mounts haha

ROFL had 2 V8 S-10s one of which had a unique engine mounting system in it, all I will say haha

and besides the whole safety aspect of cramming a V8 in there.... what about balance? the car is "supposed" to be nimble, throwing a v8 in there will surely upset that balance. i think the genesis coupe part was thrown in as speculation on the magazine's part.

You've got to respect this move by Hyundai. It might not be domestic, but this is certainly a contender. With targets in our class of cars, this car is true competition. It also demonstrates that Hyundai has a long way to go. With only 429 ponies coming out of a DI 5.0L V8, GM will easily take the Hyundai with its upcoming generation of V8s, all of which should feature direct injection.

It's only a matter of time before the Genesis becomes it's own brand. I really am all for a V8 genesis coupe, really more competition will only make future muscle cars even better.

On a side note, Honda and Toyota need to learn from Hyundai of how to make proper cars and not the beige mobiles they make today.

I thought these cars were barely selling? It seems unlikely they will throw all this money at a car nobody wants. And as already stated, the engine wont fit anyway.
