I have done a significant amount of research into the example topics I mentioned, and I am well aware that they apply to all engines. And I may check out that book because I am always interested in continuing to learn. However, I would like to relate the topics to our engines and how some of the modern adjustments have impacted these subjects. These are the reasons I have requested such a forum.

I am well aware of "search" functionality. I had similar "newbie" questions regarding exhaust and cold air intake with the 5th gen camaro. However, I didn't need to ask them since the question had already been asked, and answers had been thorough. I did my research and made my choices without much posting. I don't understand why the same questions need to be constantly asked. There is some degree of information here, I'll give you that. But you even admit that you have to do a lot of digging. I don't really think it needs to be that way. I fully understand that nobody needs to "pay" to get answers, and I wouldn't want a forum to run that way anyways. But a lot of forums do things like remove post count, reduce sig size, require minimum characters to post, etc. in order to "clean up" and consolidate the forum.

Just a thought.

The website is dedicated to the car as a whole, and is the most varied in age and gender I've ever seen. You've come to a 'general knowledge' site asking about cam physics. There are a few here that could educate you, I'm not one of them. The folks that can are likely to be cam grinders, so their information may be vague, and rightly so.

This is more a community of friends talking about something they have in common... If you want cam engineering information you'll need to hunt the knowledgeable folks out, or try a more specific site.
