No problems gettin ahold of a GT-R down here in Texas, the local dealer has 2 of them, another one down the road has 3. I've seen 2 or 3 driving the streets.

Also, the bit about having to have a lift in the showroom so no one could touch it is BS, all of the ones I've ever seen have been on the floor.

Don't you mean "Godzirra"

There at 2 driving around Honolulu, both owned by high-profile Japanese guys. Must say though, those things are insane. Kind of a waste here tho as you don't get to drive fast with all the constant traffic on the island

There's one for sale at my local dealer as well. I went to the Nissan dealer to check out a cheap car with good fuel economy and they had one on the showroom floor. I didn't look at the price because i figured it'd be out of my range anyway.

'CaptainSam', I had read that also somewhere, re; the difficulty in getting a GT-R and Nissan's "ploy" to use it as a means of grabbing customers.

Now I'm really surprised that I actually saw one on the road this past Tuesday...I wonder who the person driving it knew.

Find a different dealer, cause the one he talked to is clueless. Think about it for a second, if this was true, using the GTR to get people to consider other Nissans, is not very smart. If someone is willing to spent 80k and up for a supercar, I don't think he's interested in seeing a Maxima. Give me a break! What this dealer expects you to believe is that Nissan spent millions of dollar maybe over 100 million I don't know, to produce a car that is only a marketing gimmick. There are several GTR haters on this forum, and I for one wish they would just appreciate the car for what it is. I am not accusing the originator of this post as being one, but you can see some of them have been more than willing to opine.

There is NO WAY Nissan would risk the reputation of the most iconic car it has, to some ill-advised marketing idea.

By the way, in the month of August alone, I saw 2 brand new GTR's being driven. The cars are out there, but 1500 in one year is not many spread across the US.

Dude...it's called a trailer. You buy the car and then pay a couple hundred dollars to have it shipped to you.
With all the money you project you have, you should have the car sitting in your driveway by now for a couple thousand over invoice. No matter where it came from. If I was in you position, I'd call around and have the car in my driveway in a week.

If Godzirra proves to be a complete hunk of sh@t and a marketing scam, I won't be surprised. But, I will be disappointed. On paper, it's an awesome daily driver. Especially, in cold climates.
