At the track, they are even. It terms of technology, features, ride comfort, sound insulation, build quality, material quality.....Come on, what do you expect. That question is like comparing a Cobalt SS to a Cadillac. If you could choose between the two, who would actually take a Mustang GT over a BMW. (For the record, I'd take the BMW, sell it, buy a Camaro, and keep the $25,000 difference.)

I'll concede the BMW uses nicer materials and has more bells and whistles than the average car (i.e. Mustang, Camaro, Malibu, Taurus, etc.), and if that floats your boat, I'm not going to suggest you shouldn't buy it. I'm not sure why you keep trying to suggest that I consider a Mustang, or a Camaro, on the same level as a BMW; I don't.

If the things the BMW offers appeals to someone, great, let them buy the car. That does not mean I will ever get why they feel that way about the car anymore than I will ever understand how one man can feel sexually attracted to another man.
on all counts

Maybe it comes from being a previous gen. m3 owner, but I'd take the m3 over a mustang any day, it's like being on a yacht vs being on a fishing boat with no amenities

I agree. But if your going fishing, can you catch more fish on the yacht than you can the fishing boat?

You sure?

I haven't seen the article.

But with hp/weight/acceleration/braking/later gs nearly the same I would say that a M3 vs '11 GT on a road course would be a drivers race.

Ford was aiming for the M3 in handling with the '11 GT. So I am sure it is right with the bimmer or just slightly behind.

Not necessarily, I'd rather relax and have a good time on the yacht and if I still want to fish I can still set up the fishing rod any way,

Exactly. BMW's and the other luxury brands are nicer vehicles but that does not make them better vehicles.
