If you have a CCW and pull it, use it. In this case it was justified as the perp pulled a knife on you and gf, your life was in danger. If this is true the person with the weapon just commited armed robber by using said scum bags CC and cell phone.

If it is just a made up story, pretty funny.
The problem with shooting someone in self-defense is that you will be questioned by the police and probably sued by the victims family if it is not in your house.

I think the guy handled it well.

Now if a burglar is in my house I have no problem shooting to kill. I just hope if I have to do this the burglar dies where I shoot and not stagger out my house.

If you shoot somebody in self defense and it is ruled as such in a court of law, the family would have absolutely no case to sue you.

If its ruled as not self-defense, well... you're going to have bigger problems than getting sued.

As for shooting somebody outside your house - if you have a CCW it doesn't matter as long as its self-defense.

It doesn't matter if the victims family has no case. Just getting run through the court system can be trying enough.

And dead men tell no tales which is why I will make sure the burglar is dead if he is in my house.

Most courts will just toss the case out in a situation like that. But yes - if you have a CCW and pull your gun for some reason, expect to go to court (criminal) to figure out exactly what happened. But its better than going to the morgue.
