Boot camp is just as much a mental challenge as it is physical. The DIs will mess with you and punish you for things that may not make sense. Just remember that their 'punishment' is really just making you stronger. Also, don't be afraid to go to sick call if you have to. You WILL get sick, even with all the penicillin they will pump into you. A few recruits in my platoon refused to go to sick call, developed pneumonia, and had to be dropped to a later platoon (meaning they stayed in bootcamp an extra couple weeks). Don't try to go for every little cough (obviously) but if you think it could be serious, go, no matter how much your DIs chastise you for it. What MOS are you going in to out of curiosity?

Watch out for the alligators that hang around behind the messhall. They get in the trash cans looking for food.

Thank you everyone for the kind words once again, I'm not used to this lol. I told them what I wanted which was either aviation mechanics or avionics technitian. I'll be happy with any mechanics job really. I figured since I can diagnose and fix cars in my sleep it's time to learn a new type of vehicle lol.

well im an Aircrewman in the Navy. ive been training with and talking with marines my enitre time so far.

it is hard. but its not impossible. you will face tough challenges. but in the end its all in your head. if you want to finish, you will.

However, heres some of the true shit you will have to deal with in PI. enjoy.

Hey thats awesome... I'm glad to hear you made that decision. I was trying to find that thread where I had talked to you before a while back, but never could find it again.

Who is your recruiter?

I disagree completely.

First off... If you have to pee... then ask. Too many grown ass men piss on themselves up there because they are chicken shit and afraid to ask the Drill Instructor. I'm sure you have a great Recruiter, and he should prepare you mentally and physically. He should also teach you how to talk to drill instructors.
I dont let anybody ship to boot camp without knowing how to ask permision to make a head call (go pee)

Also, do not stand in the middle and shut up. FIrst of all, you dont get to choose where in line you stand. Second, if you try to sneak through, you are only hurting yourself.
Now that platoons are only 35 people, I can assure you... you will not sneak through quietly. No you dont have to be gung ho volunteering and trying to be everything... but Marines are the best for the reason. We want to be the best. So keep that in mind. You have a long legacy to live up to.

So are you going to the state pool function Saturday the 3rd?
I will be there. Always nice to meet another Camaro fan, not to mention future Marine.
