Surprise, surprise...

I'm glad somebody had enough reason to go after this fraud.
Based on Porche's times...the C6 Z06 (@7.429)...STILL beats the gtr.
"Godzilla", my behind...

$69,850 to $76,840

It's base is now more expensive than a ZO6. Looks like the GTR isn't the "King" of bargain performance anymore... Hahahahaha

Nissan probably raised the price to pay for the parts it needs to go as fast as they claimed.

Well I remember when the GTR was first coming out that Nissan and car magazines were using the lower base price of the GTR as a selling point compared to the ZO6.

Yeah dealer markups were price gauging the public like it wasn't even funny so consumers were paying 80-130k if not more for a GTR. But Nissan doesn't even have that argument anymore...

Price withstanding.. IF you could even get one much less at base price.. yea right.. PHX had 4 delivered.... 4
3 of which were bought buy the dealer owners as personal cars. So.. how many Z06's were available .. in one month?

Yea godzilla of bargins... more like the the fountain of youth.. great dream, but unattainable.

The journalists still do some pretty impressive things with it. I dunno about the 7:29, but the car is winning a lot of their comparison tests with what seems like legitimate results. The car did well in the lighting lap of car and driver and also very well in the big handling shootouts done by motortrend and road and track.

It's still a fast car and quite a bargain at 76k.

And I wouldn't sweat their ad campaign too hard. The Corvette is hand assembled too. Maybe not in quite the same environment as the Nissan, but there's a lot of love that goes into it's build.

They want to keep the demand high to wring out every bit of interest for their car and company. According to an article I read regarding the Spec-V, the GT-R isn't exactly a money maker for Nissan. The cost of development and production (I guess) is so high that when they sell them they don't make a lot of money. So the Spec-V which is supposed to be a lightened and more powerful version of the GTR won't come to the states for a model year or two until sales start slowing down. That way they don't flood the market and have tons of them on lots. It's not a bad idea really and I'm pretty sure my local Chevy dealer has 2 sitting on the showroom floors that haven't sold. So they're there if you want them but I'm sure that's not doing good things for the Chevy dealer and who knows about what it does for GM.

I am torn what to think about the GT-R, you hear all these great things about it but then if you really really think about them... its not so great. Edmunds conducted a test that pitted the GT-R against the "best of the best"... except it wasnt the best of the best. the R8 was hot on its heals through handling courses, which is fine and dandy but the R8 is, sadly, far underpowered for a modern supercar. more ponies and that GT-R is looking at tailpipes. and remember, the R8 is a 8 minute car around the ring, which puts the CTS-V in its range. porsche has now proven that that thinking is true, atleast the R8 part. now they turn around and bump prices on the car by about 10%. i cant think of any other company quoting more than 3% on raised material costs. i think the comment on the autoblog article was most accurate stating that Nissan put up a smoke screen to get the car established as "the best performance value." now that thats done they are turning the car around, lowering horsepower to make it have a longer life, raising costs to what the car really costs. this is the GT-R that should be reviewed, not the first few that made it to motoring journalists hands. I would really like to see a full out review now where the corvette doesnt have those stupid runflats on. then lets see where the car ranks.
