I'm not sure European styling is a good place to look for inspiration for the Corvette. There are few cars which are as big of an American icon as the Corvette. When I think of European styling (particularly sports cars), I think more smooth and flowing. But the Corvette should be bolder and brasher. It needs to be loud and proud.

The problem with Corvette low sales volume is a little bit about perception and a lot about price. The product has some weak spots in the interior - appearance and perception of value. The marketing needs to focus more on getting a new message out to the right demographic. Focus the message on what they want and tell them how a Corvette will deliver it. That just isn't happening and hasn't been happening for some time. Price is kind of high if you want anything more than the base model. Add a few toys and the cost goes up a lot but you don't get much more satisfaction out of it. The potential buyer gets frustrated at that point and just moves on to "something else" because the Vette does not offer a good perception of value.

Just how I see it. I know that is how it typically goes for me when I look at buying one.

I absolutely love the back end of that car, the front...not so much.

The interior has been a big let down not only for the Corvette but for most American made vehicles for a long time. I'm glad GM is finally doing something to step it up.

+1000

Aside from both being a retro design based upon the same car, both of those are so ridiculously completely different there is no way you could make a logical assertion that one was in any way influenced by the other.

I think this is what is meant about not straying from it's heritage. I think a few tweaks involving some European flavor though can add that little extra to draw in buyers not normally considering a Vette. The overall quality of all of GM's car has gone way up and certainly the Vette will be no exception. This will go a long way to ensuring the health of this great American iconic vehicle.

I hope they don't stray too far. The Corvette was selling great until the recession. Probably the Camaro took some sales last year too.

Not to mention the kid's design steals a little bit from the old school Ferraris...regardless if it was intentional or not.

IMO, the Corvette should reflect AMERICAN styling.

Honestly, I'd say that the exterior should either be the stingray concept or the 50th anniversary concept.

That concept would need alot of tweaking to reach production.

GM already announced that the next-gen Corvette will get the Stingrays split rear window.
