because I always wanted a REAL 58 plymouth hard top even before I saw the movie . funny true story Stephen King picked the 58 Plymouth as the 'character' because in 58 the Plymouth and most Chrysler cars of that year were not as popular as GM or Ford cars. even 50 years later you can get a nice Belvedere (the trim level used in the movie which is similar to the Fury but it has silver trim on the side and silver grille with gold V in the middle) for about 20-30 grand apposed to almost 60 plus for a mint Chevy or Ford of the same era .

oh and i found the trailer, gotta love YouTube!

If I remember correctly, the movie car was painted a "Ford Red"

I've always liked Stephen King and esp. dig "Christine"

I loved those Furies. Those and the Studebaker Golden Hawks were very sharp for their day, but don't get as much love as the Tri-Chevies.

in the book it was "autum red" a 'ford' color. I do know know what the film cars were painted but in the book the car was a 58 fury sedan. this shows how much King knew about cars. all 58 fury's were 2 door hard tops and only came in buckskin beige with matching interior with brown inserts. and the body had the 'gold' side trim, grille (both upper grille and lower grille below the front bumper) and gold in the center of the hubcaps. and it said FURY on the top edge of the side trim on the fender. in the book it said the original owner had the car custom ordered in the autum red with the white roof and silver trim. and "arnie" the 2nd owner was basically restoring Christine in those colors. Arnie made come changes to the car that were different in the movie. he changed the valve covers and the 'dual quad' air cleaners from gold to chrome (you see them in gold in the factory opening and then chrome when you see the engine and the rest of the car trashed). also I did not notice this untill later on that the seat covers are different. in the original car they were red and looks like a gold or tan inserts. Arnie has them done in red with dark red inserts.

WHEW!

I've watched the movie several times. I've always thought it would be cool to find a '58 Fury and restore it as 'Christine'.

As for the diecast, there is a 1/18 scale of 'Christine' available.

yeah i saw that one but it goes for over 50-60 bucks on ebay. and i do not care for the gimmick of the light up headlights. and the blacked out glass is cool but you cannot see the interior unless you open the doors. my Fury diecast shares 99% of the same parts as the Christine model. I only paid like 26 bucks for my model.

I don't know about you all but I hate that a 67 had to take it on the chin for the movie, over an over is just not cool. why a camaro why not a mustang.

it arrived in the mail this afternoon . if all goes well I will begin the take apart process. I do not have the body paint yet (ordered factory correct 'torador red' from a model car paint company). I can at least redo the interior and have the air cleaners and valve covers taken off and 'chromed'. I am also awaiting the correct scale plates from my buddy who is printing them out on glossy sticky backed paper, i just have to cut them out and 'glue' them to the bumper on the back and the grille on the front .

Stay tuned
