curling is one of the few winter events that I enjoy.

The Olympics do not carry as much weight in the sporting world as it used to when only amateurs competed.. since they opened it up to professionals I have lost interest... It was great seeing our amateurs guy sand gals compete with countries that paid their people to compete, they were essentially pros then and we still could beat them most of the time.. and now alot of our pros are from other countries and they go "Home" to compete for their home country instead of for us where they make their money...

(I had to edit this for spelling, my spell checker thought Amateurs was Armature...)

To me, the olympics is like a upper crust type of event. always seems very squeaky clean i.e. not that interesting. (the olympics actually freaked out because an Asian player had his shirt untucked at the airport. there was actually a story at CNN about it.)

However I can easily watch every single game of the World Cup 2010. and I don't even like soccer.

Wow I am addicted to them. 1st off I am a die hard hockey fan and to watch all of the NHLs and KHL's out there off their normal teams playing together is freakin amazing.

How could you not be excited to see Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuck, Kozlov, Gonchar or Parise, Kane, Stasney, or Brodeur, Crosby, Marleau, etc etc playing together. I guess if you don't like hockey it doesn't mean much. I could care less about football so I understand but COMME ON lolol

Not a fan, I don't watch them. They have some weird events too. What's the deal with the cross country skiing/marksmanship event? Was someone drunk and/or high when they came up with this crap?

You're not alone, I feel the same way. However, I do feel bad for the sledder that died family. That was very tragic.

Certain events like curling seem to be a total waste of time. I can't imagine spending years practicing curling in hopes of winning a gold medal.

But sports like down hill sking is pretty bad axx. The girls are doing 80mph and the guys supposedly get up close to 100mph. That's pretty crazy and it requires a lot of skill.
Also, the snowboarding half pipe was pretty unreal. The stuff those guys are pulling off is wild. They're doing multiple flips and spins
20+ ft over the top of 22 ft walls. That's 40+ ft above the bottom of the pipe spinning and flipping. That's a very high risk sport.

Being from the Dallas/Ft Worth area of Texas, there aren't many winter Olympic sports that I can relate to or care about. I can't believe they showed fingure skating in stead of Chuck...
