like omg, that's so fitting that a car named "Cruze" would be small.

I can see the commercial for it now...
*Mission Impossible Theme Song*..and the car repelling down from a crane..

Actually, the Cruze already exists, I guess they're just bringing it to the US.

I find it unfortunate they'd even change it in the slightest bit. It's a great lookin lil car and it takes names.
I don't see how they could possibly improve it from its current state...
Kinda like a 1 hit wonder imo.

YEA finally someone that agree's with me i do have ONLY one complaint the interior needs to be made of well lets say "better stuff" but the only reason they don't is to keep cost down

BTW, Jalopnik has some interior spy shots of the Cruze and they're way more finished than any similar pics from the Camaro.

But, if we're to use this as an indicator of where future GM cars will be interior-wise then this only bodes even better for our beloved muscle car.

I still can't get over how awful the name is.

And while I find more reason to love my Cobalt every day, I definitely wouldn't say it can't be improved upon. Every car no matter how good it is needs a new generation every few years to keep up. The Cobalt is great, especially in terms of operating cost, but it lags behind other compacts (especially some newly redesigned ones) in some very key areas. Bring on the next gen, but please don't call it Cruze. Cobalt is a very nice name. Cruze sounds like you're marketing it towards some child who spells bad even by txt spk standards.

they want to rename it to RE-IMAGE it... new name equals new opportunity for new image...

example.. camaro = mullets, burnouts... lots of power...etc...
imagine the camaro was called a Chevrolet CurbRunner...

and was the exact same car we came to so love as the 5th gen.....

would it still get the hype... no it wouldn't... FAN BASE for the CAMARO...

renaming a car gives gm the ability to start a completly new idea of thier compact car...

most people think a cobalt 2 dr is a sport oriented car.... sport oriented you say? well thats peformance.... performance too? must be bad on gas......
yep...

just the average joe-who's thoughts...

i think the renaming is a quick and easy fix for the much needed stimulation in the auto market...

BTW i LOVE cobalts... i made my fiance buy one to commute

True, but they'd just done a re-imaging on their small car. I understand needing a fresh start after retiring the Cavalier, a car which had gone on for two decades, much of that with long periods of time between major refreshings and acquiring some negative perceptions. They've only been running the Cobalt for a few years...I think it's silly to change it already. It takes a while to build brand equity and I think they've given the Cobalt name needs to be given a chance.

hmm...are we even sure that this car IS, in fact, replacing the Cobalt?
I wouldn't doubt it...but I just wonder if it's actually been said.

i have no idea... but the cruze isnt a bad one... ya know? good fuel milage cars is what general needs to make money... they need the image...

if a camaro gets a 4 cyl... that will change the entire image... from a mullet hot rod... to a civil, feul efficient , sports coupe... according to the majority ...(cororra drivers) rwd and 4 cyl is a good combo for everybody.
but thats another thread
