They will...it just won't be called the Volt...and it'll probably command a handsome price to go with its looks...

And that is definitely not a grandma mobile, nor is it a tree-hugging hippie mobile.
Now that, I would drive!

The money I save on gas with my tree hugging hippie mobile I plan to use for mods to the Camaro.

The interior and instumentation of the Volt in the video are downright hiddeous.

I sure hope the Volt interior looks like the pics of the alleged production model on the Chevy website. If the production car is the same as that shown in the video, then the Volt will be DOA.

Below are some pics of the interiors of the Volt, Insight, and Prius. All photos are directly from the manaufacturers commercial websites.

I like the Volt interior somewhat, not the Honda at all though. Theres a refreshing simplicity to the Toyota though.

Honestly, if the instrumentation of the Volt shown in this video is the production model, it will be a non-starter for many people. (See my earlier post comparing Volt, Insight, and Prius.).

What has me somewhat peeved is that the instrumentation shown in the video of the alleged production car is NOT what Chevy is showing on their website. See the pics below for comparison.

Thoughts?

This has probably been covered a million times, but id there a MSRP set for this thing yet?

I'd buy one in a second if it were priced right, not to be a tree hugger, but as Luts said, to reduce the dependancy on foriegn oil.

That's how I look at the car. A new direction for the automobile...that just happens to appease the tree-huggers...maybe they'll put a 2-seat sports car on the E-flex chassis one of these days...who knows, but it's possible!
I'm with Bob on that one...electrics, hybrids, diesels, and more fuel-efficient vehicles in general A) help us lowly middle class folk save at the pump B) reduce our dependence on foreign oil and C) may have a + impact on the climate.

The Volt's interior and exterior currently looks like crap. If it did look like the converj concept, then great. However in its current state it will mostly appeal to the same folks who currently are buying the Prius.

You have a strange concept of "So Cool" lol. A tutorial mode...lol..

Well, i sure love this car, and what it means for GM. This car is going to be a hit, and i think it looks fantastic! Inside and out. Very sleek, smooth, stylish.

But trying to promote this car to the muscle car crowd (and i would count me in there too), is like showcasing tofu to steak lovers.

Though this is the best tofu you are ever going to see!

And to the people that don't think the interior is very good? Would you rather have the million shaped contraption of a dash that prius and insight?

When you focus on a single aerodynamic optimized shape, it is a variant of a water droplet. They will all be variations on that theme.......period. The game is who makes the best looking teardrop shaped car.

Not quite a brick, Fen. But close. LOL

The interior is identical in both photos. So if you mean simply the display in the drivers center, then I am pretty sure it is programable to what the driver prefers for the display. You will be able to select the display to your tastes.

No price has been set. There is a $7,500 tax credit for buying a Volt so whatever the price is the government will kick in $7,500 toward the purchase.

Although i do not hope it is the case, I have a nagging fear that the Volt will become GM's Edsel. There is just not enough demand for that type of car...yet.
