Seriously, if someone wants your address, it's not all that hard to get. If someone wants to delete their plate, that's probably the best bet, but you can't cover it up driving down the street. Just as many people likely to get it that way.
The difference is that when people get behind the keyboard they tend to grow "keyboard cohones" and start arguments and be otherwise offensive and then get into fights and make enemies...

They don't do that in the mall, etc.

You do know there are programs that take away the spot you blacked out right? If you want to block it youve got to really block it with a piece of paper.

Also, are you serious?!?! Ive got your plate # because you drive around.

Do you have an ip blocker? Someone can get your address through that as well.

The OP had a good point, but so do others by stating that there are plenty of people that see your or my license plate every day. People that live nearby and wouldn't have to travel as far as someone that sees it on this forum. I don't worry about it.

As others have implied, if someone wants come get "wacky", they may leave my place with a little lead poisoning. I support the 2nd Ammendment and exercise the rights it gives me.

Not trying to change the subject but...... In our County the Sheriffs Office is now using Plate Recognition software in their patrol cars. In fact they have several cars setup with cameras on the trunk lids, that go around shopping malls looking for stolen plates or cars or anything with a BOLO put out on it ...... Kinda cool having the ability to do that .....They can drive down an aisle and scan both sides at the same time ....

They also sit on the side(s) of the road here in NY eating donuts and bon-bons waiting for their PR software to kick up a "Go get em !" message on their laptops. Seriously, the days of cruising around and actually having to do something are over. Unless they get a call, or their computer tells them to pull a car over, or they're running radar or a DWI checkpoint, they don't know what to do.

Ok just think about this, Never keep you house keys on your car key ring.. If you were to get carjacked, not only would the person have your car, he would have your address from your registration and the key to get in your house..And since you are without your car he would get there before you and clean you out before you could get back...

When I sell or trade any car I have, I remove any personal info from the glovebox. anything that has my address on it or phone number or name...

Well I don't worry too much about my tag online.. like others have said it is visible 24 hours a day 7 days a week..I am sure there are dishonest people I pass every day on the street....

There are way too many wacko's out there and who knows if they troll this site. With ur plate information and the services available on the internet..BAM..the wacko has ur registered address and can visit when u least expect it.

IMHO.

Can't they also do this when your just driving around.

Not worried about it. Like poster 2 said, everyone can see your plates. An internet stalker who m ay be interested in plates would probably not be close to you location wise. Or have to travel a bit. I just really haven't heard much internet stalking taken to action. Too many people locally to stalk you. lol

Usually the internet is used to LURE someone. Doesn't really concern me.

My wife thinks I'm a 'caveman-wild wester guy' (I think I just made up a new term, lol) because I carry my Kel-Tek everywhere we go, and allways have a pistol close by. It's become a habbit for me so no biggie. But if someone wants to take you out bad enough, they are probably gonna be able to. You don't have your head on a swivell 24-7.

If they see you driving around, they don't need to get your plate number. They can just follow you! (too simple?)

They are talking about MVR and yes you can get the same information from the Vin. So better not give the VIN number out either! Wait, Don't tell them what color you get and what dealership you got it from because then they could use Spasticsquirrel to get the vin number, and then use the MVR to get your address. And make sure you don't put a pic of yourself, because with the new facial recognition software, they can get your identity to.

It's a conspiracy, just like how the Government is using my credit card purchases to track what I buy. AHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
